Summary

She must learn to fly, but can she withstand the allure of the handsome new teacher?

Book two in the Top 10 Kindle Store and internationally best-selling series by USA Today best-selling author K.F. Breene!

The decision has been made. Jessie has taken the magic and all the weird that goes with it. Including wings.

There's only one problem - she can't figure out how to access them.

Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help.

But she could've never predicted who answers her call - he's an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He's also incredibly handsome. And interested.

Maybe flying isn't the only thing she needs help with. Maybe she needs help getting back on that saddle, too, emerging into the dating pool.

Except, the new gargoyle is also an alpha, just like Austin, and the town isn't big enough for two.

Turns out, flying is the least of her problems.

Excellent!

Absolutely loved reading this story and I genuinely laughed out loud at all the various places that were funny, cringe-worthy funny, and silly funny. Horror and comedy, fantasy and real-life problems. This book is even better than the first one, which augers well for the series. Highly recommended as an entertaining read.

Funny, Imaginative and Engaging

This second book in the series is just as good as the first, if not better because we now know the world in which it is set and who all the characters are. However, this book does delve much further into the world in which Jessie now finds herself and explores all the characters and their relationships in a more in depth way.

Now Jessie has accepted her role in Ivy House, she is trying to learn how to use her magic. Some of it is instinctual and much of it is not. She is also trying to learn to fly because without her wings her magic won’t manifest properly. Damarian is trying hard to teach her to fly and not really succeeding, he’s also trying to woo Jessie and also not really succeeding, despite his attractiveness. Jessie is still trying to date and finding the non-magical men she meets just aren’t doing it for her, but she keeps trying.

When mages attack, everything they are trying to accomplish gets pushed up a gear in urgency and even Austin Steele grits his teeth against Ivy House’s meddling and tries to help.

This book is filled with ridiculous imagery, witty banter and magical mayhem. It’s also a clear eyed look at what middle aged women experience in today’s society as they start to become aware of the ways that society has squashed them down in their youth. Part of me thinks this book should be reserved for women over 35 and the other part of me wishes more 20 year olds would read it and get some entertaining enlightenment that could help save them years of being unfulfilled. However, experience and history shows us that 20 year olds never listen to 45 year olds because ‘what would they know about being young?’ I think even people outside of middle aged women would find this book entertaining and engaging and recommend it highly.

I also recommend the narrator Nicole Poole who has an uncanny knack for voice characterisation. It’s always clear who is speaking and it’s easy to forget that the voices are all performed by one woman. She’s got a way of sweeping you along in the story as she speaks. I definitely enjoyed this as an audio book, probably more than just reading it because of her narration.

I can’t wait for the next book.

Magical Adventures!

The 2nd book of the Magical Midlife series and another fantastic audiobook narrated by Nicole Poole. I’ve read the first three Midlife books so far and am now listening to the audios to recap before I read book 4. Love listening to my favourite characters come to life! Love, love, love this series!

Can't wait for Jessie and Austin to bump uglies

I can't help thinking the author drew from people she knows because they sound like people I know sans the heroics: Sasquatch is a case in point. The Narrator, Poole is 1 of my fav narrators & did not disappoint. Get book 3 out please.
