Summary
Ashling is every busy parent’s dream: a professional nanny with experience and a warm, sunny attitude. But from the moment Mary hires her to look after her young children, things start to feel just a little...off. Are Mary’s stressful work schedule and lack of sleep playing games with her own sanity, or has she welcomed an unstable troublemaker into her home?
A harrowing and hilarious psychological thriller whose sense of disquiet builds with each passing scene, Erica Schmidt’s Lucy is sure to disturb and delight parents and non-parents alike. After all, if you can’t even be sure what’s happening in your home when you’re away, what can you be sure of?

One Note
Great performances from the cast! I wanted to like this more but the plot was very predictable. Eighty minutes spent building up to an underwhelming climax devoid of any surprises. Disappointing.

How is that where it ends?
It just…stopped? Red flags ignored, warning signs ignored, totally unbelievable, and then it’s just…done? Nope

Why Lucy?
Not sure why this is called 'Lucy', when Lucy was a minor character in the plot.
A good potential for a longer thriller, but predictable & unrealistic in places.
I could see what was coming from the start & it got a little frustrating that so much of what the nanny said did not add up, but Mary didn’t really question it or see through her obviously false statements & sudden changes of subject when she did question her. As soon as the children started to act up, surely that would’ve been a huge red flag? Nanny cam anyone!
Overall, an enjoyable short story, but the sudden ending with no real resolution was disappointing.
I would've liked to have seen the nanny brought to justice or see her working her way into another family with Mary trying to warn them.

Well that's 1 & a half hours I'll never get back
Just bizarre. Utterly pointless. I kept thinking it would have some huge revelation, a clever twist, but it just got worse. Thank goodness it was free.

crazy
I really enjoyed this. Totally crazy stuff and every mothers nightmare, but who can't see the weirdness from the start?

engaging story
a story about a horror-nanny, who just wants to cheat her employer and actually does more damage to the children she is hired to care for.
after trying to just pose to herself and others about being the actual mother, not the nanny, while scamming a large salary and benefits from a single mother of a newly born, and sabotaging everything that the single mother was doing, trying to blame her for going crazy, and her slightly older daughter, who she hated, because she only wanted to care for boys...and even that not really true caring, she blames it all on Lucy, the daughter.
although with an overall predictable plot, i found the story still engaging because of the nature of the characters...you never know how people like that react sometimes...and i was still surprised by the end when the manipulative nanny came unannounced to ask for severance pay, her full rent payed and health insurance for another 3 months and a great recommendation...
annoying character, but, still, an engaging story.
an audible original production, nicely done.
