Summary

Dominic Ramos is a Premiership football player with a secret. There are no trophies for being gay in his game. Locked into his rep as the meanest defender on the pitch, keeping his secret is soul-crushing, but love has no place in his sport, even if his soft heart craves it.

Lucky Coleman is on his knees when he meets a man with more money than sense. It's a Grindr hook-up for cash, not a love match, but dreaming of his desperate, kind eyes earns a place amongst his numerous bad habits.

Meeting once was risky, twice pushes Dom's courage to the limit. Losing Lucky seems inevitable, but his tight grip on his image counts for nothing when Lucky starts to fall.

Catching him could cost Dom everything, but if he can set his heart free, getting Lucky long term might be a risk worth taking.

Contains mature themes.

Brilliant!

I loved it, after reading ‘CASH’ I looked for more by the author, just finish ‘LUCKY’❤️ and I’m back looking… it’s like watching the first series of ‘BRIDGETON’!
Well done lads (Garrett Leigh & Shaun Grindell)

Hookup to friends (kinda) to lovers

Celebrity Footballer
Grinder hook-up

This was pretty great. Far more emotional than I thought it was going to be. To be honest I wasn’t really expecting anything. I picked this book based on the author; essentially a whim.

Both MCs are struggling in their own way and find their footing as the book progresses. I would say it’s got quite the hurt/comfort vibe.

I never tired of the story and I was pretty happy with how it all wrapped up in the end.

Only real critique. I wished it had been dual narration. The MCs sounded close enough that it took the first half of the book for my brain to register the chapter switches.

Love the London feel

I loved this story. It encompassed a huge London feel too, the language used, the common slurs, it all totally worked. The narrator took some getting used to as he ends his sentences with the same questioning slant but it worked in the end. Just enough angst to keep you involved and glued to what came next. Great, thank you!

a nice story

I liked the disparity in origins of Lucky and Dom, good characters, nice development of them and the story.

Terrific book and Narration

I completely enjoyed this book. The angst Dom goes through struggling with his need to stay in the closet. meeting Lucky turns his world upside down in a good way leading to him questioning if this is the way it has to be. Lucky is such a complex character. I found the story gripping wanting the them to get a HEA.
The narration by Shaun Grindell is superb. He completely captured both Dom an Lucky for me. His voice completely suits this story. I hope he narrates Cash when (if) it comes out. Can’t wait.

Good book

I enjoyed the book. I felt for Dom feeling that he would never be able to be himself and Lucky and everything he experienced throughout his life, though I didn't understand why Lucky didn't come clean to Dom sooner about what he knew. The narrator was decent but there were times when I had difficulty knowing whether it was Dom or Lucky speaking. Also, when Dom spoke, I thought he sounded older than 26 years old. I still liked the book and thought the narrator did a good job overall.

The narrator sounds.Like. a robot

honestly the narrator sounds like a robot giving emphasis on every other word
even when such a word doesn’t require IT

IT is so distracting THAT. it ruins a story MID flow
