About this listen
Kelley Pierce is my person.
He has been since the 9th grade.
He gets me like no one else does.
My quirks. My love of pros/cons lists.
My need to have everything under control.
He accepts me just as I am, because he is the perfect...friend.
My best friend.
But Kelley is also totally gorgeous.
And confident. And tempting.
None of that matters, though.
Best friends don't care about those things.
Or at least...I never used to.
One chemistry-filled moment has the power to change everything, and soon old emotions I've ignored and memories I've tried to forget come crashing back.
Now, he's making me feel things.
Now, he's making me want to be a little reckless.
To let go when I should be holding on tight.
I have goals for my future.
I have an image to maintain.
I have an airtight plan and no room for distraction.
I haven't prepared for falling in love.
But after that kiss....
Who is this man in front of me, and what has he done with my best friend?
Love You Better is a sweet and steamy standalone, best friends to lovers, second chance romance. It's got heart, heat, and an HEA sure to make you swoon. It is the first standalone in the Better Love series.

Surprisingly good i was hooked
Couldn’t stop listening to this book finished in one day very engaging yes it did have trigger subject matter which was upsetting which I don’t usually like in my hea fantasy love stories but it didn’t spoil the story for me I wouldn’t have discovered this author if I hadn’t searched one of my favourite male narrators for book titles but I’m glad I did on this case better read for me than some more recommended books.

Love me some Kelley and Ivy!
Love You Better by Brit Benson is a gorgeously written Best Friends to Lovers that stole my heart. I have gone on record many times about how much this trope isn’t usually my thing but reading Brit’s written words is like nothing I’ve read before.
Brit brings a huge sense of inclusion, sex positivity and an overwhelming amount of love through trauma.
Brit has a way of writing these younger characters with maturity, strength, and level headedness . These aren’t college kids being irresponsible and making life altering changes for a night of fun. These college young adults have goals, love, ambition and I am here for all of it.
Kelley and Ivy have such a strong friendship thats grown over the years into something more. While Kelley knows from the start that Ivy is his girl, Ivy with all of her strength has some doubt on if she’s the girl that Kelley deserves.
I adored watching them as their own people and then again as a couple, I love that Kelley never gave up on Ivy. I swooned over the relationship Kelley had with Jacob and his students.
This book is narrated by Kelli Tager and Joe Arden. This is my first Kelli Tager book and it will not be my last, WOW! She totally blew me away as Ivy and I can’t wait to see how she performs the rest of this series.
Joe Arden, I’ve gone on record many times saying, I would rather listen to cats scratching on the door BUT something about this book, about Kelley that has me hooked on Joe Arden, His voice was so smooth, it was emotional and it was everything I thought Kelley would sound like.
I loved this story, all the side characters and all the knowledge that Brit allowed me to soak up from her.

Enjoyable but...
My first ever Brit Benson book and it's a solid read for a debut novel there were things I liked and things I wish were done differently...
What I liked about this friends to lovers story was the fact that Ivy & Kelley's friendship had depth/history to it and you could feel that throughout the story, Kelley was an incredibly likeable MMC overall even if at times he was a bit too much of a simp for Ivy for my liking, he was easy to route for, a great dirty talker when you get to that part and definitely kept me interested in the story. The side characters Bailey & Jesse were great, I really enjoyed both of them and they added levity and humour to the story which was needed at times. Ivy... unfortunately she isn't an FMC that I connected with, she is meant to come across as a strong, badass, independent woman and up to a point she does but a lot of her character traits, actions & decisions ended up landing on the pretentious & clueless side of the fence for me.
The pacing felt off and one of my issues with the friends to lovers trope is that it usually relies on one of the MCs being oblivious to the obvious and when that drags on and on I get irritated by it and that is what happens here. It felt like we were never going to get to the point of them crossing over from friends to lovers and because getting to that point took so long the ending felt very rushed and considering the subject matter of Ivy having experienced SA in her past it felt like that incredibly important aspect of the story was skimmed over/brushed under the rug to a degree. I'm not saying we needed on page details of it happening but for it to take almost to the very last chapter of the book for Ivy to open up to Kelley about it and what happened at the end (no spoilers) to happen I just feel that such an important and defining moment for the FMCs character and the subject matter itself in general deserved more gravitas and consideration than we got here. 🤷♀️
I only picked this book up initially because i was looking specifically for a book narrated by Joe Arden and this is the one that took my fancy at the time, overall it is a solid and entertaining enough read to get me to pick up another book by this author and Joe's performance definitely helped me through the slower parts of the story. This was my first book narrated by Kelli Tager and I really enjoyed her performance and will listen to her again. 🌶🌶
