In Life, the Universe and Everything – the third title in Douglas Adams' blockbusting sci-fi comedy series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy – Arthur Dent finds himself enlisted to prevent a galactic war.
In consequence of a number of stunning catastrophes, Arthur Dent is surprised to find himself living in a hideously miserable prehistoric Earth. However, just as he thinks that things cannot possibly get any worse, they suddenly do. He discovers that the galaxy is not only mind-bogglingly big and bewildering, but also that most of the things that happen in it are staggeringly unfair.
Escaping the end of the world for a second time, Arthur, Ford, and their old friend Slartibartfast embark (reluctantly) on a mission to save the whole galaxy from fanatical robots. Not bad for a man in his dressing gown . . .
Follow Arthur Dent's galactic (mis)adventures in the rest of the trilogy with five parts: So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, and Mostly Harmless.

A Whimsical Interlude
A really fun listen!
Solid plot with the same absurdist humour we know from this series.
Freeman's Narration is excellent yet again.
Better than the Restaurant at the End of the Universe,
Still not quite the original.

Great fun..!
Great chapter in the series but "wandered off" and "went on a bit" a little too much in places. A good listen though and did make me laugh out loud occasionally 😆 👍

Mr Adams sure did know how to write books!
As with most of his other hitchhiker books this is funny, sarcastic, ridiculous, over-the-top, believable and utter nonsense all at the same time!
The choice of Arthur Dent (Martin Freeman) as narrator is perfect for us who do love the film, he is a good narrator that makes you forget that you are listening to a book.
I love Douglas Adams books and this is no exception!

Return to Form
This installment in the Hitchhiker's Guide series is a return to form, following the slump of the 2nd book. Although the beginning is a bit chaotic, the rest of the book is fantastic- a true continuation of the first. Great narration by Martin Freeman too.

Cricket and Sofas
Martin Freeman defiantly does Life, the Universe, and Everything justice as one of my favorite readers. This book, another Douglas Adams classic, will make you laugh till your jaw hurts with hilarious dialog and a humor lost on many this will keep you entertained on the bus albeit with a few stares from the general public as you chuckle quietly to yourself

amazing!!!!
After being stranded on prehistoric earth for years Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect catch a sofa back to Lord's cricket grounds on current day earth.
They then travel in an Italian restaurant with Slartibartfast through space to save the universe from a horde of horribly be-weaponed killer robots dressed in cricket attire, who are hell bent on reawakening their xenophobic masters.
