Summary

From the author of the 20 million-plus-copy best-selling novel The Shack and the New York Times best sellers Cross Roads and Eve comes a compelling, conversational exploration of the wrongheaded ideas we sometimes have and share about God.

Wm. Paul Young has been called a heretic for the ways he vividly portrays God's love through his novels. Here he shares 33 commonly uttered and sometimes seemingly innocuous things we say about God. Paul exposes these as lies that keep us from having full, loving relationships with our creator.

With personal anecdotes, and sharing the compassion felt from the "Papa" portrayed in The Shack - soon to be a major film starring Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer - Paul encourages listeners to think anew about important issues including sin, religion, hell, politics, identity, creation, and human rights and helps us discover God's deep and abiding love.

Nothing whatsoever to dislike . engagingly, insightful, well thought out. This is the true God that W M Paul Young talks about here. Everything he says makes absolute perfect sense.

Amazing truth.

Most of the chapters of this book have been confirming what I already knew, but never heard from anyone else. The few chapters, that posed new things, challenge me to think and pray over the concerned matter.

Wow... how could we have been so blind?!

I always love to hear the author read their own book. You get so much more from the read when you hear it in their own words.

Having been an evangelical Christian for 40 plus years I'm surprised at how blinded I have been by the absolute obvious that we find in scripture, all because of the dogma and doctrine of fear that is unfortunately alive and well in western evangelical church today. WAKE UP people and see the truth in this book for a fuller life in Jesus!

The section about the cross was out of this world. I need to listen again.

Enjoyable and accessible

This was a very enjoyable and accessible listen. Although I might not agree with everything Young said, I found it very interesting all the same.

interesting opinion but not based on the Bible

interesting opinion and some wishful thinking. I wish some of his opinions were true but the author ignores the parts of the Bible that disagree with him and he quotes scripture out of context.
