About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
'Life is what you make it, nothing is for free
Stand up and be counted, and be who you want to be'
'Let The Light In' Jane McDonald
Jane was planning a golden retirement with her beloved partner Ed, when a shocking cancer diagnosis changed everything. Ed was terminally ill. Jane nursed him at home until the end, on her own, with the UK in lockdown. At first she was overwhelmed, but slowly gathered strength from caring for her loved one, and now sees that it was a privilege to be there for him.
'Let The Light In', a song Jane wrote over twenty years ago during another dark time, points the way to finding a new kind of joy out of sorrow. It's a philosophy Jane has always lived by and, in this deeply personal book exploring the same themes, she reveals the lessons she's learned that have helped her grow, adapt and rise up through adversity. She looks back with candour and honesty on her experiences of heartbreak and loss, failure and burn-out. Cherishing the ring of support around her, taking the odd duvet day and keeping a sense of humour throughout, she grew stronger through each challenge, building resilience, trusting her gut, going for her goals.
Listen on and let Jane McDonald’s fabulous light into your own life.

Jane’s warmth, brilliant and funny personality, endless openness, fighting spirit and passion for life.
I love hearing Jane chat about all the rich life experiences she’s had. I would have liked a slightly deeper conversation about how she navigated the grief she has endured as I wanted to draw comfort and understanding from it, but i understand it’s a very personal thing for everyone. I had heard most of the stories before as I read and enjoyed her previous book, so only a little disappointed that it was very much the same in that respect. Regardless, Jane is the ultimate friend everyone wishes they had. She’s a heck of a woman! With a powerhouse of a voice xx

1thank you Jane
how Jane is just the same as us. she has made mistakes and her grief resonated with me I lost my dad i nursed with my sisters with his cancer and 11ahe passed away peacefully in a fantastic hospice he is still my world being my mom and dad as I lost mom when I was 21. he was always there and would know instinctively if I was not myself or worried about something. we spoke alot about what he wanted for me after he had gone, no regrets and not spending my inheritance on a disney cruise and pay off as much as I could from my mortgage. i loved the book resonated with me as I feeling a little exhausted at the moment. I'll take a duvet day when I can Jane. Thank you for taking me out of my life to get enthralled in your life and book. also yes I met you at a number of concerts with my hubby.

What a guardian angle
Another beautiful audible, listening to both audibles of Jayne back to back I feel like I’ve known Jayne for many years but that is Jayne for you. She has such a unique, carm, warm and open mind. Sad in places and can relate to loosing my world 10yrs ago, my mom. I had exact same relationship with my mom. Highly recommend and a book you can listen to not only once but 2,3 or 4 times.
Thank you Jayne.
