I'm a 100% beginner.
As a total biginner of trying to learn a second language, I found this series of lessons extremely informative and easy to follow. I would recommend this series to any and all wishing to learn Japanese. It not only teaches you the basics but also some of Japan's history and culture. Well worth it. I will be listening to these lessons again and again. Just brilliant.

Really good. Learning a language can be tedious, but this makes it genuinely interesting! Explaining not just the language, but culture. Going to buy the series :)

Good for understanding and memorising new word

Very easy to listen to but a lot of talking about Japanese culture in English
I am on Chapter 14 now. It's way too heavy on talking about Japanese culture and language in English rather than teaching you Japanese. I've already visited Japan and read up a lot on the culture so I was looking to increase my Japanese speaking and listening skills.

Well, to start this review I have to say that I was not expecting results. My shock was that this is a very educational language course ! You learn not only the language but also the culture and customs of Japan.
I am soo pleased to have purchased this. I have progressed both in the Japanese language and also the culture! Packing my bags to go to Japan!

Skip the first ~45 chapters, rest is quite good
Edit: As of chapter 45, I can say that the book is delivering what it proposes. Initially, I thought that it's bad because twenty-something chapters were not teaching the language (see below). But later it started the actual Japanese dialogs and then teachers discussing the topics from the dialog. I think it's a good hands-free way of learning Japanese; of course, alongside some other resources.
Before edit: I'm writing from the 20th chapter. Only less than half of the chapters were about teaching the actual language. Many are shallow topics about the culture. Many of the 'language teaching' chapters boil down to 'top 5 blabla words'. Only the first 4-5 teaching chapters were useful so far. Those actually had a conversation in Japanese and explained that conversation in English (such as the one in the sample audio). So we can call it a misadvertised non-language focused chatter about Japan.
