About this listen
Be predator or prey. A psychological thriller. Eccentric British scientist Rowena Aldus is in dire straits, about to be thrown out of Venezuela after spending years in the Amazon jungle studying a spider venom that promises to cure ED. Then she meets American angel investor Guy Westerphal and all her dreams suddenly come true, including falling in love for the first time. When Guy vanishes one day and Rowena is arrested on charges of illegally experimenting on an indigenous tribe, she flees over the border to Colombia, where she later discovers the truth behind Guy's disappearance. As she tracks down Guy to confront him, Rowena comes face to face with the twisted reasons behind her self-imposed exile from England. An exploration of the power of the past on the present, and what it takes to overcome it.

thriller
I enjoyed the narration of Cynthia Janzen
Rowena is a scientist working in the Amazon jungles extracting spider venom which could cure ED. She’s suddenly asked to leave when Guy turns up an American entrepreneur. All seems good until Guy goes missing, things go from bad to worse.
A great listen

science isn't everything, or is it?
Rowena is a scientist, a researcher in the jungles of South America. Maybe a little naive, maybe a little lonely, but when she meets a man who offers her what she dreams of, everything seems to go well for her. Unfortunately, not all is as it seems and either the man's intentions nor Rowena's background are anything but pure. Luckily Rowena has another trick up her sleeve.
Very nice read, story developed nicely and well narated.

Great afternoon read!
This is the perfect audio experience for a rainy day listening or rocking your chore list.
There is enough detail to keep you involved but easy to listen to while accomplishing other tasks. This short novella has a great setting, nicely developed customers, and just enough sinister undertones to keep the reader engaged. The narration is excellent and well suited to this story

Short but Tense
The law of the jungle is just that of every man for himself it's a shame really as this is still going on today in this urban jungle. Rowena a scientist and researcher are in the jungles of South America as always boy meets girl but perhaps Rowena is not quite as simple as one would like her to be. It's a lovely story and one you can relate to and always with Rowena, and she is clever and relentless in her effort to correct the wrong that was done to her.
This is the 2nd Christina Hoag book I have listened to both great listening and the characters well defined, and not forgetting the narrator she does a cracking job.

Who needs Viagra!
This is a superb story by Christina Hoag. Rowena is a scientist working in the Amazon jungles extracting spider venom which has some interesting properties. when Guy turns up and turns her world on it's head, not everyone is as trusting or is it gullible as her? The narrator does a fine job and is perfect for this kind of story. Well recommended! ******
I was kindly given a promo copy of the book by the author and leave this honest and voluntary review.

Fantastic
I really enjoyed this one. It's not a genre or a type of story I'd typically go for but it really gripped me throughout. The main character was complex and developed. Some of the plot points may have been a bit too convenient but it didn't take away from it. I was kept interigued throughout and I loved the direction the story took.
I think this would suit anyone interested in a light drama, not too complex but still has substance to it.
Cynthia as narrator was good. Her voice suited that of the main character, I just felt that the male voices were a little awkward sounding? But that is entirely me being fussy. The narration was good and very easy to listen to, I don't judge harshly for doing voices of the opposite sex - I couldn't do any better whatsoever.
It is a good book, a good listen and I'll look forward to hearing more!

Great book
Very well written, thought provoking book. "It’s the law of the jungle" - will you be the betrayer or avenger?
Interesting insight into Shamanic use of plants and animals for medicinal use.
I enjoyed this book a lot perhaps because of my scientific background, having visited Venezuela some time ago.
Personally, I didn't relate to the narrator but powered through because I enjoyed the story
