Summary

Seven seconds. That's all it took for Web London to lose everything: his friends, his team, his reputation. Point man of the FBI's super-elite Hostage Rescue Team, Web roared into a blind alley towards a drug leader's lair, only to meet a high-tech, custom-designed ambush that killed everyone around him.

Coping with the blame-filled words of anguished widows and the suspicions of colleagues, Web tries to put his life back together. To do so he must discover why he was the one man who lived through the ambush - and find the only other person who came out of the alley alive - a 10-year-old boy who has since disappeared. Acting on his instincts, Web believes he knows where the killer will strike next. Only this time he may not survive the attack.

In this extraordinary work, David Baldacci uses his unsurpassed storytelling skills to explore the essence of survival itself as a conspiracy of violence surrounds an FBI agent whose fate is to be the...Last Man Standing.

Decent thriller with a few twists and turns

Good performance of a good book. It's quite a long book but the story was engaging and the performance kept you in the story.

While some of the plot points I guessed correctly before the reveal, there are some twists that "got" me.

last man standing

I enjoyed the storyline, although it did take a while to get into, it's not a story you could binge listen to, I felt the ending was a bit disappointing, too many questions left unanswered.

Fantastic story

This was a great story, great narration. The only issue I had was the occasional echo of said narration.

Great story but dips in the middle

Great story, long, gets a bit slow in the middle. Over detailed on everything just a shame he never described what kind of shoe laces he wears!!!

Another brilliant book by David Baldacci

Loved this book! It was gripping with a lot of twists and turns. There are a number of interlocking stories which could have been confusing but were incorporated extremely well.

This was an enjoyable read/listen.

Far too long

This is not the worst book I have ever read, but it's the worst David Baldacci book I've read. It's too long by many chapters, the characters are not well drawn and Web London is a plain silly name ! I really enjoyed the John Puller Series as well asThe Camel Club books but this stand alone is a poor example of Mr Baldacci's efforts.
