About this listen
The exhilarating adventures of Anne McCaffrey's bestselling Crystal Singer series continue with Killashandra, a story that mixes interplanetary political intrigue with passionate romance.
In this installment, Killashandra Ree's crystal claim has been exhausted, forcing her to take a new assignment and leave her new lover back on their native Ballybran. She goes undercover on a distant, desolate planet, searching desperately for the crystal that will save her—and, quite possibly—determine the fate of the entire universe.

Great to hear
Enjoyed hearing one of my favourite stories. Loved how clever the audio was very well read. Looking forward to hearing more.

A story of love in the midst of political rebellion
I have read this book countless times and was really happy to find an audible version. I love the way that McCaffrey engages her audience's emotions while introducing fabulous places, odd names and technology which she manages to imbue with a normality which means that we accept this science fiction seamlessly. Killashandra is a feisty female lead and I would certainly recommend this book to teenaged girls, especially those who like music and adventure stories. The only thing which mars this rendition is the rather brutal abridgement which spoils the gentle pace of the book and the galloping vocal performance which sometimes makes the listener feel that there were orders to keep the performance down to 2and a half hours and that the actor was racing to finish.

At least as good as it's prequel.
Entertaining story telling and I felt the narrator did it justice. A favourite revisited, thanks to Audible.

Would have been perfect if it was unabridged.
I love these books and the reading is very good, but the hack job that has been done to edit this down is really awful. I was surprised to find so much missing as the audio book was not listed as abridged. If you have not read thr Crystal Singer books you will love it, if you have, be warned there is a lot missing.

Too short
I enjoyed this but it was abridged, I will not purchase the next in the series because that is abridged too. I cannot understand why this occurs as we spend the same amount to have a shortened book.
Also Audible place a series of books with some missing , I've never understood this practise that Audible insist on carrying out. I feel cheated when I've bought a couple of books in a series and then one is missing.

Abridged sigh
I read these books 20 years ago and loved them and I was so excited to see they are offered in audiobook. The abridged version tells the story but it loses the depth of storytelling. It felt like a run through the story to get the job done rather than enjoying a good book. Wish they offered an unabridged version.

Please Don't Abridge
This is a great story when read in full but loses a lot of the story by being abridged. Certainly not worth a full credit. Only brought it because I can't buy an unabridged version.

Abridged? more like cut to shreds
so disappointed that so much of the detail is missing from this abridged copy. I just can't listen anymore. and oh my goodness why is the narrator reading so fast, Does she get paid in words per minute. all her characters sounded the same, like creeky old men. not impressed with audible so far.

Why abridged?
This is a great story by Anne McCaffery and do not understand why it has been abridged.
