About this listen

What happens when a 37-year-old office worker, who exercises marginally less than the average cheese sandwich, decides to walk 630 miles of challenging coastline in one go? Will he go on an epic voyage of self-discovery...or just get really knackered?

Find out the answers to these important questions, and many more, by joining him on a grand adventure that takes in 26,719 steps, 921 stiles, 302 bridges, 91,000 feet of climbing and descending, one seal, zero basking sharks, lots of chips and one overweight, oversize backpack.

An enjoyable ramble.

I did enjoy this amusing story along the SW Coast path which I'm planning on doing myself one day, but the overuse of 'Dear Reader' was a bit grating. Also, 600 miles is about 1,200,000 steps which is a lot more than the 26,000 he said he did!

Nicely paced, full of enjoyable moments.

Made me want to follow in his footsteps, but without the tent. A good read

Nice hiking story

A tale of one man's journey on the South West Coast Path. Lots of giggles and a good thru hiking story.

more cheerful than the salt path

Unlike the couple in the salt path this chap actually seems to enjoy his surroundings and the walk. It is the sort of honest feel good experience of the path I was hoping for. I found it mildly amusing rather than hilarious. However it was the feeling of being taken on a pleasant walk that I was after and this delivered. I bought it after listening to 'Afloat' which I loved. Both books are miles better escapes than the much hyped but moan laden Salt Path. If you like to wallow in others misery choose the Salt Path, but for those with a more positive outlook I recommend this.

Easy listening

A well narrated tale that takes you on a coastal walk at a gentle pace, not a route March.

A bit disappointed

It started off being a really amusing story but by the time we had raced through to Land's End I began to find it repetitive and lacking in detail. It was as if it was done in such a hurry there was no real time to sit and drink in the atmosphere. All in all a bit of a disappointment and didn't live up to my expectations. In the end I found it rather boring and samey.

Delightful take

Stephen makes two months of repetitive walking a delightfully engaging tale... I must add this trail to my bucket list 👍

Really enjoyed this.

Easy to listen to and lol funny. I'm training at the moment for Trekfest so have been searching out walking stories and books. this is a great down to earth adventure along the South West coastal path which I'd really love to walk. especially loved this as I am familiar with some of the locations along the route. I enjoyed the ups and the downs of the adventure.

Good honest account

Good narration good content and thoroughly entertaining. A good distracting read whilst doing some boring pottery.
