About this listen

Hilarious second chance at love...

The last person Maddy Kelly expects to show up at her mountain cabin for the holidays is her soon-to-be ex-husband, who was always too busy to enjoy their hideaway. Following doctor's orders to reduce stress, Michael arrives at their remote cabin, unannounced and unexpected, in the dead of night, during a snow storm.

Which is why Maddy greets him with a fire poker to the head, rendering him unconscious, and with a case of temporary amnesia. As his memory returns, Michael realizes how much he loves his wife, and is willing to do anything to get her back, even if it means pretending to still have amnesia.

Add to the mix Michael's mischievous 13-year-old nephew, who has stowed away in Michael's car, and Maddy's two dachshunds Rambo and Muffin, who take an instant disliking to Michael, and you have a laugh-out-loud recipe for a romantic romp.

Lighthearted, sweet romance

If you could sum up Just Married Again in three words, what would they be?

Lighthearted, fun, romantic

Would you recommend Just Married Again to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, I would recommend this book to friends and family because the romance and humour will appeal to many of them. I would recommend it to anyone who likes lighthearted romances.

Have you listened to any of Mindy Grall’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Mindy Grall's performances before but I enjoyed her narration of Just Married Again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the funny moments in Just Married Again. It offset the more serious and tragic past the couple shared that led to the break down of their marriage.Despite the book being billed as a romantic comedy it is more light hearted than funny. The story provokes a range of emotional responses from the listener. Michael and Maddy have a tragic history and you can't help but feel Maddy's pain and frustration. There were times when I didn't like Michael because of how he treated her during their marriage and I wasn't sure that I wanted to see them get back together. I became more sympathetic to him as more details emerged about the good times they shared together and I got an understanding of the motivations behind his workaholic behaviour. The presence of their nephew in the cabin lent some fun to the story and the banter between the three was humorous and enjoyable.
