About this listen
Following the death of her bullying husband, Etta Bancroft's selfish children move her to a village in the Cotswolds. One night, she discovers a filly, left to die in the snow. With help, Etta rescues the horse, and she and her friends form a syndicate to pay for her upkeep. As the horse recovers, she begins to show racing pedigree, so the syndicate enters her into a maiden hurdle - and are shocked at the result.

Jilly Cooper all over!
It's like coming home and pulling on your pj's and most comfy slippers! All the old favourites with new ones to fall in in love with! Great plot twist at the end but a wee bit predictable in parts.

Another excellent Jilly Cooper yarn!
Excellent Jilly Cooper book, great being unabridged as you get to know the characters. Superb narration once again. If you like Jilly Cooper books, you'll not be disappointed with this. Can't wait for her other books to be released unabridged!

Any additional comments?
Like so many, I've been reading Jilly since her pieces in The Times and have grown old(er) with her. Of course these aren't Booker prize winners, there's a place for them but it's not with Rupert, Taggie and Billy. These are old friends who are there to relax with, to wince at Jilly's dreadful puns with, and (I speak from experience here) to turn to for a momentary but precious escape in times of real trouble and sadness. Never despise old friends! Yes, you have to suspend belief - so Marty Gluckstein the Accountant is now a Barrister is he? But this is Campbell-Black Country, so just sit back and enjoy the ride. I'd not heard of Gerri Halligan before, but she's great. Her reading brings them all to life and has real pathos when the much loved Billy Lloyd-Foxe dies after the Grand National, hoping to see The Bull again. I've read the book more than once but that part still got to me, as it probably will to anyone who's been with their saga since Riders was published. Only complaint; I wish a worse fate had overtaken Etta's ghastly, grasping children, particularly the obnoxious Martin, but Jilly is obviously a kinder person than I am - and Etta wouldn't have liked it anyway. Please can Gerri read the earlier ones now, particularly Rivals and The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous? Unabridged, of course (just learnt that lesson with an abridged version of Wicked that I had to return).

Good old Jilly Cooper
Haven't read a Jilly Cooper book for ages.
Always a good read with plenty of laugh out loud comedy, unbeleivable characters that one cannot help but love, a good dose of sex and the typical Jilly Cooper romance between 2 unlikely characters
I will always happily listen to any of her books and was not disappointed by this. A nice 26 hours so you really feel like you get a credits worth.
A jolly good listen and well narrated

Adored this audiobook
I listened to 'Riders' and loved it. But I adored 'Jump'. Gerri Halligan is expert at doing the narration, ensuring none of the treats of jilly cooper gives are lost. Excellent story and excellent characters. Can't wait for next story on audiobook!
