Summary
Följ Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte från födelsen år 1763 ända fram till när han blev svensk kronprins. Bernadotte var mycket duglig och modig i sitt militära yrkesutövande och också omtyckt av sina soldater. Napoleon befordrade honom till general, och privat fanns flera trådar dem emellan: Bernadotte gifte sig med Desirée, som tidigare varit förlovad med Napoleon, och hennes syster var i sin tur gift med Napoleons bror Joseph. Men så småningom blev relationen mellan de två starka personligheterna spänd.
