About this listen
A beautiful and uplifting story from L.D. Lapinski, author of The Strangeworlds Travel Agency, about how to make your own place when the world doesn't think you fit anywhere, for fans of Me, My Dad and The End of The Rainbow.
Jamie Rambeau is a happy 11-year-old non-binary kid who likes nothing better than hanging out with their two best friends Daisy and Ash. But when the trio find out that in Year Seven they will be separated into one school for boys and another for girls, their friendship suddenly seems at risk. And when Jamie realises no one had thought about where they are going to go, they decide to take matters into their own hands, and sort it all out once and for all.
As complaints at school turn into a rooftop protest against the binary rules for the local schools, Jamie realises that if they don't figure out a way forwards, they might be at risk of losing both their friends forever.
A beautiful and uplifting new story from L.D. Lapinski about making your own place when the world doesn't provide one for you, for fans of Alex Gino's George (Melissa's Story), and Benjamin Dean's Me, My Dad and the End of the Rainbow.

LOVED it.
Great characters, relatable story and so inspiring; kids CAN change the world! I really liked Jamie's guides to language and concepts between chapters. I listened in one sitting because I enjoyed it so much. I am looking forward to reading this with the kids in my life.

Incredible! 💛🤍💜🖤
A beautifully uplifting story which is the perfect introduction to genders outside of the binary for kids and young adults 😊
Found myself screaming "HE'S just like me for real" at Ash's anxiety and general being! 💚 but all 3 main characters are pure brilliance from start to finish!!

Brilliant book about being non-binary
This was the book my heart needed to read and during pride month was the perfect time to read it. We meet Jamie a non-binary child who has just been confronted with having to pick a gendered school to go to despite being neither and so begins a campaign to get what being non-binary is recognised and attempt to find somewhere they belong. This book made me feel all sorts of emotions. I know because I wanted to scream, clenched my teeth and rolled my eyes. It also made me smile, laugh and made my heart feel light. I think this and the fact that I have read 4 of their books in the first half of this year has made Lapinski an auto-buy author for me.
