About this listen
Conner
Jake was my best friend. My first crush. The love of my life. Until he screwed up. We both did, really. Now I tell everyone that I’m over him. I tell them that it doesn’t matter, because I’m an independent omega, out to change the world. The truth is that I miss him. The bigger truth is that I want to lose myself in him, but I’m afraid to lose myself in the process.
Jake
I’ve done a lot of stupid things in my life, but breaking up with Conner has got to top the list. I was mad and I was an idiot, and now I regret it all. Now I would give up anything to get him back. Even myself.
Conner complains that I’m overprotective. Too alpha. Can’t he see that he’s my other half and if anything happened to him, how could I go on with only half a heart? How do I convince him to give me another chance? I’m a paramedic. Every day, I swoop in like a superhero to help mend broken arms, legs, bodies. Why can’t I mend this broken heart?

A prickly but sweet pair!
Connor is the Germaine Greer of omegas’ rights, working with omega teens in trouble. Jake is a paramedic. Boyhood sweethearts with a bumpy history, mostly due to Connor’s bolshie personality and health issues, their relationship broke down in recent times. The authors’ books often explore omega rights and the parallels with women’s rights are clear and thoughtful. I’ve seen reviewers’ dislike of Connor, but the world needs firebrands that help push social change even if they’re touchy in their personal relationships. 🎧 John Solo gives another strong performance, he is comfortable being playful or sorrowful as needed.

Ahh, young love
Poor Connor and Jake. They've loved each other in various forms throughout their lives and are absolutely perfect for each other.
Young love, though, can be all encompassing to the exclusion of rational thought.
It's fraught with emotions and hormones and outside forces preying upon it.
Jake is very much an Alpha, all-knowing and possessive and Connor is very independent.
They're both still growing though, learning and settling into themselves when Jake makes an enormous mistake, saying things he instantly regrets, causing Connor to break things off.
His pride holds him back until he realizes that neither one of them will ever be truly happy until he learns how to give Connor his independence without smothering and controlling him.
I really appreciated Connor making Jake work for their reconciliation, up until I actually feared him not forgiving him.
Their journey on the path to happiness was rocky but so well worth the heartache for their richly deserved HEA.
John Solo's narration was spot on as his voice carried over the changes for the characters from childhood to teens and then as men.

as good as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Jake Plus Conner Equals Happiness
This story about childhood sweethearts who have broken up but might not be finished with each other was a feel-good gem. Conner is an independent omega with strong opinions, and Jake is the gentle caretaker alpha who loves him but broke up with him. Circumstances cause them to meet again, and they have to decide if they want a second chance to be together... I loved these characters and this low angst story, with enough heat and feels to warm you all the way through! Narration by John Solo is wonderful.

Jake plus Connor
I’m a fan of second chance stories and that’s why I really liked this book.
Connor is an unusual Omga who represents his opinions. Jake, on the other hand, is an Alpha who ended the relationship with Connor.
But then the two see each other again. Do they have a second chance?
I really liked the characters of Jake and Connor. The story has a feel-good character and was told emotionally.
John’s solo did a fantastic job and it was a pleasure to listen to him.
A great series - highly recommend!

Great relaxing listen.
Jake and Connor is a lovely sweet gentle mpreg romance. There a few hiccups in their relationship not least of all that they are not together at the start. There are few flashbacks to explain what happened and happening. An alpha paramedic and an omega counsellor is not a unique pairing but it works very well. This book is comfortable, extremely well narrated and perfectly paced. It won’t set the world on fire but it was great for quiet relaxation.

Fantastic series
Ann-Katrin Byrde did a super job with the story. So glad to finally get Jake & Conner story and happy that they get the spotlight. This story that we were teased with throughout the Oceanport series. John Solo did a fantastic job with the narration.
