About this listen

"Expect to be spellbound”* by Patricia Briggs’s #1 New York Times bestselling series starring Mercy Thompson. Being a lowly “walker” in a world of vampires, werewolves, and fae once kept her safe. But Mercy’s bark–and bite–are not so harmless any more…

Though Mercy can shift her shape into that of a coyote, her loyalty never wavers. So when her former boss and mentor, Zee, asks for her help, she’s there for him. A series of murders has rocked a fae reservation, and Zee needs her unique gifts, namely her coyote sense of smell, to sniff out the killer.

But when Zee is accused of murdering the suspect Mercy outed, he’s left to rot behind bars by his own kind. Now it’s up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.

Mercy’s loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can’t decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her...

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Read this if worried about 'THAT' scene...

No spoliers here. But if like me, you've read the books, and you are worried about how a certain scene gets handled in an audiodrama, then I hope this review helps. Firstly I had never reread this book, so knowing what happens and now being able to see the red flags is heartbreaking - so be prepared for that. The actual scene itself is handled fairly well, there is enough for readers to know whats going on, without it going over the top, and the darker bits are over fairly quickly. The lead up to that scene starts about nearly halfway in chapter 6 - other than the red flags, its a pretty comfortable listen up until that point. During that scene there are one or two moments you hear Mercy's garbled cries - be prepared for that. The afterwads allows a little bit of a cool off, and I recommend persevering to the end for that cooldown. Be aware though there is an interaction between Adam and Ben after 'that scene' that can be even more emotionally gut wrenching, but in a therapeutic/understanding kind of way. Those who have been worried about this, I would still reccomend listening, but I hope this helps for those impacted by SA triggers. Remember to pause the audiodrama and take a break if you feel your getting upset, and do go in prepared on how to manage your selfcare if you have had SA experiences and choose to listen to this. Remeber Audiobooks/audiodramas are that next level of immersion. I personally can't wait to get hold of the next book, where the healing begins.

Not the best story, but great narration

I feel like Mercy has another personality in this book and the whole plot is based on that. Nevertheless, the narration is great and we get to learn more about Mercy's world, this time about the fae.

one of my favourite book series

I am a devoted fan of P.B.'s Mercy series, having repeatedly experienced the works in both audio and print formats. But the enhanced elements provided by Graphic Audio are truly exceptional, making it feel like experiencing my favorite book all over again!. I eagerly anticipate the completion of the remaining series installments.
