About this listen
Award-winning author Anna Burke delivers the shivers in this daring queer dark fantasy romance that is teeming with sensuous vampires, dark academia, plant horrors, and terrifying fungal fae.
When Clara Eden is offered a job as an archivist working for eccentric estate owner Agatha Montague, she thinks her prayers have been answered. Soon, she finds herself sucked into the world of her research, captivated by a romantic correspondence thousands of years old. But as her feelings for her employer's assistant, Fiadh, deepen, so too does her suspicion that something about Agatha Montague isn't quite right. Unfortunately for Clara, by the time her suspicions are confirmed, it is far too late to run.
Contains mature themes.

FANTASTIC 💖
This story is incredible it is exceptional quality in writing and in narration. I was hooked and wanted to know more and more. I loved it so much that I couldn't stop listening to it, and I didn't want it to end. OMG what an ending, it was epic! Roll on the next instalment of this brilliant audio book. ❤

Five Stars.....
Five stars for this excellent audiobook ! (sort of spoiler) This is not a standalone novel and if I had known the full extent of the cliffhanger I would of waited for Book Two in the series and listened one after the other ! I find so many publishers in this genre either don't follow up with the rest of the series or some authors don't seem to complete the set ?
This is a Paranormal ,archaeological, double romance adventure that is a real 'page turner' ! There are one or two issues that the author doesn't seem to address for those 'purists' among us (which I can't really say without giving too much away) but these do not detract from the story as a whole. The narrator does a really good job although on occasions the two MC's can be a bit indistinguishable. This however is a bit picky !
I just hope book two comes out soon and then I'll re listen to 'The Roses of Pieria', before I delve into it because there's alot going on and I will need to refresh myself with the adventure !

A sapphic paranormal book that outshines all the rest
It's so hard to find that many paranormal/fantasy books with sapphic MC'S that have an amazing storyline and is beautifully written, not only that but every character ( not just the MC'S) is well developed and has a strong back story.
It's left me desperate to listen to the next book.

The story, the romance, the narrator...exquisite!
I'm not usually into this genre, but wow, did it blow my mind. Just by the way Clara was depicting Fiadh, I think I fell a little bit in love with her too. Separate kudos to the narrator, she really brought the characters to life. I so hope there will be a book 2, definitely adding this one to my favorite books list.

got confusing
the first half is good, love letters from the age of diadoci, an era I'm interested in history. after half way the vampires arrive, intriguing, but from the car ride into snow it all got disjointed, too much jargon and odd names. the narration also started to grate, but that is mostly the story.
