About this listen
A killer wants Lilly Echosby to roll over and play dead....
Lilly may be losing a husband, but she's gaining a toy poodle. That could be seen as a win-win, since her new adopted pooch, Aggie (named after Agatha Christie), is cute and adorable and Lilly's dirty dog of a spouse is cheating on her with a blonde bimbo - except for one problem: Albert Echosby's just been murdered, and Lilly is the number-one suspect.
With the cops barking up the wrong tree, it's a good thing her best friend, Scarlett "Dixie" Jefferson, from Chattanooga, Tennessee, decided to take a break from the dog club circuit to pay a visit along with her own prize pair of poodles.
With help from Dixie, her defense attorney daughter, and a blue-eyed man in blue with a K-9 partner, Lilly is determined to collar the real killer. But when a second murder occurs, it's clear they're dealing with one sick puppy....

The story is told vey well by the narrator she has a voice that is easy to listen to. The ending I s easy to predict but overall still entertaining.

Poodles of fun
I did enjoy this book but I must admit I was beginning to wonder if it would ever get solved. There wasn't much investigating (or many suspects for that matter) and the main character was just reacting to the situations she found herself in. She only started to talk about suspects in the last hour or so. I still enjoyed the book with all the family drama and dog talk. The mystery was obvious on both who the next victim was going to be and why, the killer was also obvious but there was a slight surprise so I wasn't totally right. I liked the characters and the interaction between them all, especially the best friend who is a hoot. I would say it more of a grown up cosy mystery, with out the usual humour or bumbling around. It's a series I would like out for again.
When Lilly's husband turns up with his new much younger girlfriend at the divorce lawyers meeting, she knows it's really over. That means she can start living for herself and plans to move to find her happy place. Her first step is to contact her best friend but things don't go as planned when he is killed in a supposed burglary. In the police's eye she is the number one suspect and as they make plans to arrest her, Lilly, her best friend and children set out to find the real killer.
I liked the narrator, she did some good accents and interesting voices to keep the listener entertained.
