About this listen

It all started with a bang. Or did it? Opposites attract. But do they really?

We're only human. But for how much longer?

We'll all die one day. Or will we?

Taking us on an incredible journey across centuries and galaxies, accompanied by his characteristic wit, Professor Luke O'Neill explains how it all began, how it all will end and everything in between. Listeners will benefit from Luke's insatiable curiosity on this road trip through life and death.

Among many fascinating facts, you'll discover the science behind how we got to be so smart, why sex with a caveman was a good idea, the science of finding love, why we follow religions and how robots will become part of everyday life. Humanology is a humbling reminder that we're sitting on a small speck of earth in a big universe – so sit back and embrace the adventure.

Critic reviews

‘A man who can explain 4.2 billion years of life on Earth and make me laugh at the same time – sheer genius.’ (Pat Kenny, Newstalk)
'Narrator Ruairi Conaghan has unflappable charisma and dry wit to spare – he's that professor you wish you'd had in college.' (AudioFile)

VERY ENJOYABLE FROM GET-GO

If you have not read Homo Deus before, you've probably not read anything close to this book. I should add, the narration was so spectacular it got me glued to my head set at every slight opportunity.

Life is..

Not just about humans but every life form. Science cannot lie and we don't like being lied to. This is the most fascinating information about pre during & (possible) after life. Narrator used humour and hard facts for a thoroughly enjoyable end entertaining  tale. it may offend or enhance the faith  of religious believers.

Incredibly fascinating and humbling

This book has everything you could possibly wish for when you’re curious about the world and our existence in it. It has 4.5 billion years refined into 20 or so chapters of absolute bliss.

Witty to the point of cringe with proud and relatable context.

It is the perfect book for someone seeking answers about where we’ve been as a species and where we’re going.

It is up there or surpassing Bryson’s ‘A short history of nearly everything’ in regards to layman’s science.

Cannot recommend this book/audiobook enough.

Luke O'Neill had done a good job trying fact check

Luke O'Neill had done a good job trying fact checking on science. It is a good book to positive us, in a constant covid world. It doesn't go very deep into details, but it will cheer you up.
