Summary
Would you like to know how you'll be getting around town, playing, and working in the future?
At the 2017 World Government Summit, Tesla founder Elon Musk proclaimed: "In 10 years, it will be very unusual for cars to be built that are not fully autonomous."
Take a look at the vehicle sitting in your driveway. It may be the last one you ever own. With an estimated 33 million fully autonomous cars and taxis projected to hit the road by 2040, an automotive renaissance is soon to be upon us. Personal car ownership currently costs the average sedan owner $9,000 annually. But car ownership may soon be a thing of the past.
Autonomous vehicles will be the most disruptive technology ever deployed by mankind.
- They'll change the way we eat, cook, and shop.
- They'll change the way we raise our children and the way we choose our spouses.
- They'll change the way we display our wealth and status.
- They'll change the way we build cities and design our homes.
- They'll change the way we dispense charity and the way we think about work.
- And, most importantly, they'll change the way that we think about each other and the way we see ourselves.
Since 1900, 3.7 million Americans have died in motor vehicle accidents (about 35,000 per year). But we will soon exit these "dark ages" of transportation. Thanks to several recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, we are about to usher in a new age - one in which auto collisions, traffic jams, and road fatalities almost never happen.
Soon, autonomous vehicles (of all shapes and sizes) will roam the city streets - delivering your pizza, dropping off your latest order from Amazon, and safely driving your children to school - under the watchful guidance of a dozen digital sensors.
We're about to embark on a fantastic voyage. A journey that will bring about a new age of technological enlightenment, with the potential to produce a world of great abundance - if we can avoid screwing it all up. In this book, we'll talk about the many potholes that lie on the road to the future. And we'll discuss how you can be economically prepared for the transportation revolution that is currently underway.

Incredibly well researched
Wow. Just wow. This is one of the most comprehensive books I've ever listened to on a topic. Anthony Raymond has gone out to find the deepest, most intrepid view of the autonomous vehicle revolution and boy did he find it. This book covers everything from how the "city" as we know it will change due to differences in transportation habits... to how motor vehicle accidents could become a thing of the past... to the elimination of the idea of car ownership. It's a truly fascinating look at a piece of technology that many people understand on the surface, but aren't truly aware of the sheer potential of this industry.
Hats off, because this book will be hard to beat.

Want to know how autonomous vehicle impacts us?
Narration: - The voice narration is good.
Story: - The author takes us to the immediate future of how autonomous vehicles disrupts our society. I would say most of what is mentioned in the book could be a reality in next 10-15 years. It is good take on how AVs will change catering business, transportation, courier service or how it will fix the housing crisis. There are some ideas which could be game changing business to some. At the same time, the author maintained the subject so that the subject doesn't go either too futuristic or too technical with AI, which could have made it more of a fiction.
Should you read it? Do you want to know how autonomous vehicles changes our lives? Do you want to gain some insights and probably could get some business ideas as well? Do you want to know how our society using AI , Robots and Autonomous cars will be in next 15 years? Then I would say yes. It is definitely interesting read.

Good listen
Lots of food for thought. There are many avenues autonomy can take and you have managed to capture the essence of many of these.

A very enlightening book about our future
This is a very thorough book about the impact of autonomous vehicles on our everyday lives. It explores the most likely changes in most areas of our lives and I've found it fascinating. To me, the most surprising change which is likely to happen it that in the future people will no longer own their own cars. There are several other changes which I didn't think of and which are very well explained.

Game Changing Audiobook On Self Driving!
I've been so intrigued by self-driving cars ever since I heard about them. The thought that you could do work, read a book, etc, while a car takes you safely to your destination seemed like something so far in the future, I may never see it in my lifetime. This audiobook gave me such a good knowledge base on the electric cars and the autonomous driving revolution, and it's coming quicker than I thought. It helped me completely understand the concepts where now I'm able to have a conversation on the topic with people and not feel uneducated on the subject. The narration is fantastic and crisp! I am hoping to see more audiobooks on this topic from the author.

Great look into the future of cars
Though most of us realize that autonomous vehicles will change our lives in quite a large fashion, few of us know the intricate details that will come with such a phenomenon. Those details are what this book covers, as it shows us how AVs will transform how we work, live, commute, enjoy leisure time, and even think about our cars altogether.
One thing I found super insightful was the author’s point that the cars of the future will have four distinct features: they’ll be autonomous, electric, connected (to the internet), and utilized as a service. These four pillars set a solid foundation / framework for the content within this one and help make the rest of its ideas come together clearly.
The book also talks extensively about the technological challenges associated with AVs and how we’ll overcome them — amongst a plethora of other things, of course. I definitely enjoyed listening to this one, and I’m sure others will as well, whether they’re car lovers, tech enthusiasts, or just interested in the future in general.

Disappointed
To many quick conclusions, it really doesn't take into consideration human psychology and lacks nuance.
