About this listen

The rookie superstar, the desperate cowboy, and a naughty proposition...

Denny

The press calls me this year’s hot shot, the rookie who scores at will and conjures plays out of thin air. Truth is…

I’m a PR nightmare. Seriously. Ask my agent.

My anxiety is off the charts. I can’t talk to the media without breaking into a cold sweat, but once I get through the season, I can regroup at home. Life is simpler in Vermont.

Well, not anymore. There’s a new cowboy in town. Literally, a cowboy. At least, Hank looks like one—he owns a horse, wears a hat, and did I mention he’s hot?

And get this…he has a proposition for me.

Hank

Proposition is a strong word. I prefer to call this a mutually beneficial arrangement. See, I could use Denny’s help with a family business venture, and though I was planning to offer cash, the jock has a sexier idea.

Not gonna lie, I’m interested.

This could be a fun distraction while I’m stuck in Elmwood. Nice enough place, however, the locals are wary of an outsider taking over the neighboring mill. Long story short…they don’t trust me. But they love their hometown hockey hero.

I get it.

I’ve never met anyone like Denny—skittish in street clothes and a feral beast with cunning instincts on the ice. He’s fascinating, sexy, smart, and—Whoa! I’m not falling for the hot shot rookie. No way, no how, no chance…

Too late.

Hot Shot is an MM bisexual, age-gap, small town romance featuring a hot shot rookie, a sexy cowboy, and a proposition that changes everything.

Brilliant!

Hot Shot audiobook by Lane Hayes.

Audiobook review…

I adore this series it just gets better and better with each new book.
Here we get Denny's story, he's now 22 years and playing in the NHL as the latest hotshot prodigy on the ice.
As he heads back to Elmwood his path crosses with Hank, an equine therapist who is working for his father , running the mill they've just bought in a nearby town - where he is not popular with the townsfolk.

The chemistry between Denny and Hank is off the charts how their relationship grew was beautiful to see and to read.
A beautiful small town romance.
Wonderful words by Lane Hayes , perfect narration by Nick J. Russo.

Loved it

Elmwood is my favourite Lane Hayes series. I love all the couples equally. This one takes place several years from the end of the last. Denny is now 22 and in his rookie year in the NHL.
It had everything I wanted from a acquaintances with benefits turned lovers. I love that while Hank claimed he needed Denny's help, he actually won everyone over mostly on his own.
As most of this is set in Elmwood, there are plenty of appearances from the couples in the previous books.
The narrator does a brilliant job.
I don't know if this is the last Elmwood book, but I hope not (Trinski and Jake, maybe?). If it is, I'm heading back to Elmwood as a re-listen.

Hank and Denny were amazing!

5 Stars!

While this book could be read/listened to as a standalone, I suggest reading the other books in the series for maximum enjoyment.

I loved Hank and Denny's story and having so many cameos from our favorite Elmwood Stories characters! Hank and Denny hooking up and developing feelings, felt very organic. They were just so good for each other, Hank grounding Denny and helping him with his anxiety, and Denny helping Hank find a place where he could feel he belonged. It didn't hurt that they were sizzling hot together.

I loved catching up with the other couples in the series, and with Denny's grandmother, she was a hoot! I wasn't too certain about Hank's father, but he actually came through for his son in the end.

Nick J. Russo did a fantastic job bringing Hank and Denny and the rest of the characters to life. He has such a pleasant voice, with a wide range and made the audiobook even better for me.

Overall, this was a delightful audiobook to lose myself in for a few hours and definitely one of my favorite books in the series. Highly recommendable!
