About this listen

On the day we choose our wedding rings, my fiancé vanishes into thin air.

My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year.

Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved.

We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it.

I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Great storyline

Loved the way the characters talked to John. The storyline is really cleaver and the descriptions of what happened was really good and clear.

A solid story

It went on a bit long, really spelled everything out and the “who dunnit” is too obvious. Enjoyed the last little twist at the end and how it all wrapped up

Desperate search for THE MISSING

The non-conclusion is so true to life. unanswered questions, that if answered, only elicit more questions.
The inevitable sadness, the range of emotion felt by the family & loved ones of the missing. The description of the confusion, disbelief & clutching at straws, that accompanies disappearances.
I liked all of it. It seemed at first, a little far- fetched, but the raw emotion was very true to life, the "other-worldliness" of a loved one's inexplicable disappearance. The sense of abandonment & betrayal felt by all the characters was palpable. The roller-coaster of emotion, the heartbreak & then the switchback to humiliation, confusion, anger& desperation, felt by all, the unreality & dread, was very moving. This is a bigger story than is first apparent. It will haunt me a little during the coming weeks.

The End

The skeleton of the story was pretty good, but there were so many chapters that laboured Eve’s situation that I almost stopped listening to it half way through. But once I start something I like to finish. The narrator was good 4stars the story 2.

A tad boring

The narration was very good, but the story was tedious. Yes, there were some surprises but towards the end I just didn’t care and couldn’t wait for it to end

Brilliantly narrated, slightly plodding

I found this to be fairly enjoyable, though as others have said, the pace lags in the middle of the book. I found the protagonist’s endless self-obsession slightly irritating, but I really liked the ending. Great narration, and happy I read it as part of the plus catalogue rather than wasting a credit!
