Summary
Hellboy has accompanied his girlfriend, Anastasia Bransfield, on a trip to Brazil to help colleagues who are conducting an archaeological dig in the jungle.
While they’re having coffee, a colleague arrives...through a public square, sick and sluggish and in agony. He falls, and wasps begin to come out of his mouth. When he bursts open, more wasps emerge—his insides are full of a labyrinthine, gray, papery nest.
It becomes clear that something sinister and supernatural is at play here. This Original Dramatized Audiobook continues the story from HELLBOY IN LOVE.
Written exclusively for GraphicAudio and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!
Performed by Jasmine Hyde, Scott McCormick, Stewart Crank, Carolla Parmejano, Sebastian Zancanaro, Peter Holdway, Kay Eluvian, Bia Borin, Vinicius Faria Zinn, Stephanie Németh-Parker and Eric Messner.
Critic reviews
"A full cast accompanied by a score and sound effects brings this Hellboy adventure to life.... Scott McCormick captures Hellboy's wry sarcasm in a booming voice and gravelly timbre. Jasmine Hyde voices Anastasia as more than Hellboy's girlfriend; along with her affectionate fondness for the wisecracking demon, she's a capable adventurer. The sound effects--persistent rain, the hum of a car motor--all capture the ear. The music is an occasional but cinematic presence when it wafts into a scene." (AudioFile)

Great start but lost it’s way
My first dramatised audio book not produced by Marvel or the BBC. It started off well reminding me of the BBC Saturday Theatre productions with good acting driven by an intriguing story but about 50% in it started to just become a journey with lots of description and even the ending was slow and drawn out. I would have cut an hour and condensed the story for a much more satisfying and tighter story

Great performance, not much of a horror
Even though as an adult i am really afraid of wasps this story/listening experience did not give me any sweats. The performances were great, Christopher Golden adapts Hellboy with great experience. An hour could have been cut about unnecessary conversations how old archeology was racist and evil.

A fun tale for a fan
I don't listen to a lot of audiobooks but this one faithfully added to the Hellboy Universe and followed what I feel are the standard tropes of the hellboy universe in uncovering the 'Other'. Well worth the listen and looking forward to the next 2 audiobooks.

Excellent Hellboy Adaptation
Hellboy is one of those characters that I try to read, listen, or watch everything with him in it. Despite my massive collection of Hellboy comics I never heard of the novels before. Christopher Golden has this character down. There have been other adaptions mostly movies where I think they did not nail the character. In the first movie I thought they made him more adolescent like. This Audio story does an excellent job of showing the true character, he is still an adult with experience and it's just his circumstances growing up that lends to his immaturity at times.
The cast was perfect, you could tell they were really putting the effort in. The story was interesting and gave us those little nods to other corners of the Hellboy universe.
I had actually had moved a little bit away from reading Hellboy but this story has ignited a passion in me again so much so I've picked up the most recent comics and when I read them I hear this audio Hellboy voice in my head.

Hellboy
I would like to say the voices for the characters are 5 star. I also found none annoying which is a relief, as the lobster johnson audiobook was harder to listen to. Great tension building and story telling. If it where a graphic novel / comic book this would be a 10-15 minutes read. so the story is a little overstretched, but it is a great listen. if you are a Hellboy fan like myself, I think you shall enjoy it too.

The story was entertaining enough
I imagine the graphic novel would be better than just listening to the audio on its own.

vastly improved
good performances and a nice horror story, and with a more subtle commentary than the Lobster Johnson story

Expected better from Golden
Pretty decent Hellboy tale but spoilt by overly verbose narration which slowed pacing to a crawl.
