About this listen

They call him the devil.

When I crash-landed into him on my first day at Loyola Academy, I was sure that couldn’t be true.

He was the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen in real life.

Little did I know he was also the cruelest.

I went from starstruck to stunned the moment his cynical eyes cut through me.

I can’t tell you what it was that made him want to punish me. But from that day forward the brooding recluse of a man made it his goal to torment me.

I want to loathe him, and some days, I do.

But good or bad, nobody’s attention has ever tasted so sweet.

What do you do when you have a hate crush on your bully?

Worse yet, what do you do when he’s also your teacher?

Hate Crush is a full length standalone age gap bully romance with a complete ending.

Love

I don’t usually read teacher/student books but I love the author’s stories and writing and had to read this one as well.
Not sure if this is a truly bully romance because for me it seems more as a very possessive alpha a**hole.
What I liked the most was how he challenged her to be better, to stand for herself and not let the others to run over her, to have the courage to say what she wants and likes when she wants and keep her head up because she’s worthy of everything that she’s accomplished.
They are steamy together, heck, they are fire together and their banter is just so engaging that you’ll definitely want to read it in one sitting.
Nobody’s perfect and most of us are dealing with heartbreak and a past that can’t be forgotten easily but I love how the author is bringing two characters with an age gap that complement each other, both with a past but wishing to find a future in the other person.
There’s a scene that I couldn’t get past and that’s why I can’t give five stars but I loved this story overall more than I was expecting and will definitely recommend it.

A 5* NA Romance

I really loved this New Adult student/ teacher forbidden romance.

A dysfunctional love story, between two dysfunctional people, Stella and Sebastian are a very complicated couple. Sebastian is quite bitter, a little twisted, and a cold person, while Stella is much more a light but confused and insecure person. These two people, opposites in so many ways, are inescapably drawn to each other, time and again. This audiobook also has subplots going and I also absolutely loved Stella's friend Sybil. She was such a rock.

There is plenty of angst, twists, a little darkness and lots of heat between this couple. I cannot praise A Zavarelli highly enough with this book. I loved it.

This is a complete standalone story.

Ohhh Mr Carter! 🔥🔥🔥

When I first read this book I fell in love with Stella and Sebastian Carter so hard. Listening to it has been refreshing and brought back k all the feels. I was a little disappointed to not have a male narrator as Sebastian’s POV but I fell into sync and really loved it.
Ashleigh Zavarelli is one of my favourite authors and her broody alphas as EVERYTHING!!

More than just a bully romance

HATE CRUSH by A. Zavarelli is so much more than just a bully romance. There’s so, SO much going on and so much more to the story than the blurb makes you believe. Yes, you’ve got the forbidden aspect of a teacher / student relationship and you have a yummy age gap – but that’s just the tip of the ice berg. Listing all the tropes included here would spoil the reading fun, so you’ll just have to believe me that it’s SO worth it!

So, Mr. Carter … Basically, he is a prick, lol. He hates his job, doesn’t like the teachers and students around him, so each year he picks a student as his “project” whose life at school he makes a living hell. It’s a wayward way for him to somehow relieve his conscience from his past. And what a tragic past he had … no wonder he’s so jaded and broody and broken (and possessive and jealous and deliciously dominant, yum!) … And Stella is his newest project.

Stella … she is smart and mature and resilient as all hell (the things she was put through in school … I’m not sure I’d have survived in her stead), but has an unhealthy urge to please everyone, especially seeking approval from a certain teacher, which of course made it much too easy for Sebastian Carter to make her bend however he liked …

That passion between these two though … it burned red-hot and set my earbuds on fire, holy hell! They complete each other in every way – now Sebastian just has to come to his senses and realize that too … Which also brings me to the one thing I didn’t love about the story: Yes, they needed one another, but somehow the spark of love never truly ignited, a true deep-seated connection between them never developed. For me, that turning point from bullies to lovers was sadly missing.

I’m still going to round up my 3.5 instead of down, because their story – hotness, drama, and storyline in general – still kept me thoroughly engaged and wanting to listen nonstop.

A word on the narration: It was my first listen by Stephanie Kay, and I loved her distinct voices for each character. You always knew which point of view you were in and I especially enjoyed the voice she gave Sebastian. If she could tone down her sometimes over the top accentuation a tiny bit, she could become one of my go-to narrators.
