Summary
A Friends-to-Lovers, Small Town Romance
Whoever said you can't come home again, wasn't in love with Nate Dawson.
Is a chance at the love she's always dreamed of enough to make her stay?
Nearly two decades after she left Halfway, Nebraska, Audrey Porter returns to the small town she once called home following the death of her beloved grandmother. With Nana gone, she must protect the family farm from her opportunistic mother. It isn't long before she is reminded of all the reasons she moved away. Though she no longer lets the small-town gossips bother her, ignoring the rekindled feelings she has for her teenage crush proves more difficult.
For the last 20 years, Nate Dawson has been the hometown hero. High school football star, cattle ranching royalty, and now the county sheriff, he is admired, desired, and respected. But beneath his controlled, no-nonsense exterior is the tender heart of a young man who never forgot the girl who got away. With Audrey finally within reach, the smitten sheriff is determined not to waste his second chance.
As Audrey works through her grief, battles her mother in court, and wrestles with the decision to keep or sell the farm, Nate refuses to let her push him away. Will surrendering to the love she has always wanted bring Audrey home for good?
Publisher's Note: Halfway Home is an angsty, slow burn, friends-to-lovers, small-town romance with enough steam and intrigue to keep you listening late into the night. Originally released as a novella in the no longer available Cowboys for a Cause anthology, it has been revised and more than doubled in length to make a return trip worth your while.

Slow burn friends to lovers romance.
This is my first book from Maddie Taylor and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.
This is romance pure and simple...It didn't have a great deal of steam within the pages between characters. But that didn't bother me and never really noticed which shocked me because I am used to reading super steamy stories, with lots of sexy times.
This book is character based and all story and I thoroughly enjoyed iy.
Nate and Audrey live in a small town and have known one another all their lives they are neighbours and through the years become good friends.
There is only one problem they are both in Love with eachother but never say anything.
Audrey's mother has a bad reputation in town and that label haunts Audrey through her teenage years so much so she decides to cut loose and leave town.
Nate is heartbroken but gets on with his life eventually becoming sheriff of the town..
Years later Audrey is a nurse in Boston..but has to go back home after the death of her beloved grandma Charlene...Its Audrey coming back to town that triggers old feelings and stirs up the love that Audrey and Nate have for one another.
And as Nate helps Audrey through her grief Audrey realises that her heart will always be with Nate and this town.
This is a slow burn friends to lovers romance and they are both so stubborn, and there are so many mis communications..I thought that maybe they wouldn't end up together.
Then there was Audrey's selfish mother who keeps putting obstacles in the way causing trouble..But fate has other plans and it all untangles in the end.
Sadie Provost is the solo Narrator for this book and she did a great job with both male and female character voices. She expressed all the emotions needed for each scenes and I loved listening to her narration.
This book was so sad to begin with and I have to say it took me a little bit to fully get into it..but once I did I was intriguesd by Audrey and Nates story and was eager to know what would happen to them.
very enjoyable.
Love it,
Lovely book
5 Stars.
