Summary
The new escapist novel from the author of Island of Secrets. Perfect for fans of Santa Montefiore and Lucinda Riley.
'I am Sofia. I am searching for my daughter, born 1st November 1972. Can you help me?'
On the beautiful beaches of Crete, an old woman is handing out scraps of paper. Sofia, eighty-five years old, unable to speak, is desperate to find a daughter she has never known. After a tragic childhood in Athens and a soaring career as a singer, the brutal treatment of the man she loved by a tyrannical regime forced her to give up her daughter mere days after her birth. Now she longs to be reunited with her child before it's too late.
Meanwhile in London, Zoe is searching too. In the months since the disappearance of her teenage daughter, Zoe's life has crumbled apart. Her husband has left her, her son feels forgotten, and every day is a struggle. But Zoe is desperate to track her daughter down, even if she doesn't want to be found....

Powerful, interesting and gripping
This book was free with audible plus. Different to my usual reads but totally enjoyed the story and listened to it all in two days!
Definitely well worth listening to. I did google the history of Greece to find out more about the time the story is set.
If you’re looking for a book to stir you deeply, to challenge you and to renew your appreciation of your life, this novel is the one. Don’t forget your tissues!

Although it took me a few chapters to get to grips with the story I was then hooked. The bravery and courage of the characters was brilliant and would definitely recommend it

Beautiful
What a wonderful story and I had no idea that Greece had such a troubled past and so recently. I cannot believe what was happening as tourists visited. I had tears at the end, and will definitely listen to more of Patricia's books

Another moving, wonderful and cleverly written bk.
Truly loved this book. I listen a lot to audio books as my job sees me lone working a lot. I stumbled over Patricia Wilson via the recommended for you section. I listened to the villa of secrets first, not really understanding what I was listening to but quickly learnt how Patricia writes incredibly moving, cleverly written books. I added this one to my library and was eager to listen (after finishing Cathy Bramley).
It didn't disappoint. I found myself willing the characters on and frantic to find out their story.
The way the stories intertwine and then build to a wonderful ending and thr back subplot stories as well all make for an amazing read.
I will be honest, when I first put this book on I wasn't sure I could listen to it because at first the narration was a bit to... umm... breathy (?!) for me, like it was almost trying to be seductive. BUT I was very wrong and after a few minutes it turns out that Mira was a brilliant narrator for this story and truly felt thr emotion of the story. the devastating lows and thr euphoric highs.
I'm going to recommend this to my mam so it must be good!
