Summary

Two exciting short stories set in the engrossing world of The Demon Cycle from bestselling fantasy author Peter V. Brett.

Humanity has been brought to the brink of extinction. Each night, the world is overrun by demons – bloodthirsty creatures of nightmare that have been hunting and killing humanity for over 300 years. A scant few hamlets and half-starved city-states are all that remain of a once proud civilization, and it is only by hiding behind wards, ancient symbols with the power to repel the demons, that they survive. A handful of Messengers brave the night to keep the lines of communication open between the increasingly isolated populace.

But there was a time when the demons were not so bold. A time when wards did more than hold the demons at bay. They allowed man to fight back, and to win. Messenger Arlen Bales will search anywhere, dare anything, to return this magic to the world.

Abban, a merchant in the Great Bazaar of Krasia, purports to sell everything a man's heart could desire, including, perhaps, the key to Arlen's quest.

The Great Bazaar and Brayan’s Gold is the essential addition to one of the most exciting epic fantasy series currently being published.

A good in filler to our hero

I found this little book a great in filler to our hero’s story definitely worth listening too as it explains the gaps which book one left out.

reasonable priced

this minor book adds a little context and background to Arlen and a couple of Characters from book 1 but could easily be skipped...

not as good as the sagas but still enjoyable

Thank the Goddess all of Brett's other works are so brilliant. Story bland, and narrator was monotonous.

Another great book

Listening to these short stories has rekindled my memories of the series and it is highly likely I'll be listening to them all again fairly soon.

I loved this series from the beginning. Both the author and narrator are 5 star+

Excellent novellas

Very enjoyable addition to the stories. Having finished books 1 and 2 these two stories fit in nicely. A great listen.

Brilliant but short

These are brilliant short stories that fit neatly between the books, or even after you have listened to them all. It answers questions and even has a couple of new demons and wards in it.
my only gripe is they are quite expensive for only 3.5 hours of audio.

Does not manage to use the wonder of world

While set in the same world the fun parts do not come through, so these stories end up being un-affecting and un-engaging. I was so desperate to have more of the people and lives in these world I listened to it but end up disappointed. Perhaps this was due to the same problems as the final book.
