Critic reviews

GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS David MametRead by Joe Mantegna, Gordon Clapp, Kyle Colerider-Krugh, Richard Dreyfuss, John Getz, Richard Schiff, Josh StambergThis wonderful full-cast rendering of Mamet's 1984 Pulitzer Prize-winning play loses little in the staged recording. The gathering of vocal luminaries brings passion, poise, and panache to the narrative in a memorable audio performance. The subtle but completely appropriate sound effects are exciting and superbly amplify the angst and drama. There are seven active character voices, and while it's sometimes a bit difficult to keep them all straight, the natural flow of the story helps the listener stay on track with who's doing what to whom in this sometimes funny, sometimes brutally human drama. Excellent

I listened to this performance as part of a course studying dramatic writing. It's an excellent piece of writing for any student of the craft and the performance was well done.

Superb

I love the film version of this story and equally enjoyed this theatre performance. Interesting to hear how the two differ. The film’s dialogue is faster, serious and intense. This theatre version is slower and allows time for humour to shine through. A great listen.

Heavily cut.

Dinner theatre in LA! Baldwins part as fine as are many of the subtleties of the stage play and screenplay. It’s not bad but not great despite the relatively stellar cast. How can anyone follow Jack Lemmon, Spacey, Price, Atkins, Ed Harris , Pacino, Baldwin? Great writing nevertheless.

The Essential Play

An excellent production of a gripping play. I've seen it in the theatre and have seen the film but this perfectly captured the essence with eyes closed!
