About this listen

America's greatest military gamble of World War Two, the invasion of France. This is the background for an epic novel of two tanks. The crewmen of the Sherman M4 are an ill-assorted bunch of squabbling Americans, forced to swallow their differences in order to survive. The German Tiger is manned by fanatical young Nazis, Hitler Youth, and led by a tough veteran of the bitter war on the Eastern Front.

The Sherman and the Tiger clash in a series of desperate fights during the early days of the invasion. Only the savage power of the guns and the courage of the crews will decide who survives to emerge victorious. Fury of the Tiger is a powerful and engaging story based on the so-called Battle of the Hedgerows, the Allied struggle for Normandy.

A Smashing Good Yarn...!

A good listen. Neat story about Normandy Tank action, with some dastardly Germans as well.
Worth a listen. I hope the next one covers the Brits.

A solid, if predictable and clichéd story

As a military history fan i was delighted to find a work based upon the armored conflict of WW2. This book presents a scenario surrounding the D day landing and subsequent move inland of allied armor. The story is a little clichéd with well trodden characters that will be no strangers to anyone. The pace is good and the story progressed well though the narrator's struggles with pronunciation of french placenames and the constant accent shifts between characters becomes grating. Overall, this is a pleasant and worthwhile afternoons listening and in spite of minor technical inaccuracies. The experience manages to highlight some of the challenges of tankmen of both sides of the conflict. so long as no great depth or realism is sought this book will not disappoint.
