Summary

From the celebrated imagination of Dean Koontz comes a powerful reworking of one of the classic stories of all time. If you think you know the legend, you know only half the truth. The mystery, the myth, the terror, and the magic continue....

They are stronger, heal better, and think faster than any humans ever created - and they must be destroyed. Not even Victor Helios - once Frankenstein - can stop the engineered killers he's set loose on a reign of terror through modern-day New Orleans. Only the one-time "monster" Deucalion and his all-too-human partners, Detectives Carson O'Connor and Michael Maddison, stand in their way. But as the three race to uncover the true dimensions of an age-old conspiracy, they will discover that Victor's new, improved models have infiltrated every level of the city's society...and far beyond.

Even Better than the First

Great story, narrator does a really good job as well. Won’t spoil anything but even better than the first I thought.

Just as good as I remember

I read this book a few years ago and was interested to see this on Audible, which I'm new to joining.
Listening to an audio book for the first time; I was a little nervous about whether I'd be able to take in another person's voice considering I've only had my inner mind's reading voice that I had been accustomed to but the narrator has a comfortable voice that's easy to listen to, and the story itself is just as enjoyable as the first time that I had read it.

You don't really need to listen to Book 1 to get the necessary knowledge that Book 2 - City of Night contains (I was gifted a few paper-back books including this, unknowing it was a series until I unwrapped it).

I will definitely keep an eye out for Christopher Lane in the future.

Koontz - Genius

A brilliant retelling of an age old classic. Thriller, horror mystery all the elements needed.

Disappointing ending

More an absentee ending than merely disappointing
A fun if slightly grizzly book until it gave up the ghost almost mid sentence
