Summary

This tender solo debut by Alyson Derrick, co-author of New York Times bestseller She Gets the Girl, is perfect for fans of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Five Feet Apart.

What would you do if you forgot the love of your life existed?

Stevie and Nora had a love. A secret, epic, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. They also had a plan: to leave their small, ultra-conservative town and families behind after graduation and move to California, where they could finally stop hiding that love.

But then Stevie has a terrible fall and the last two years of her life are erased overnight. Suddenly Stevie finds herself in a life she doesn’t quite understand – she’s estranged from her parents, drifting away from her friends and dating a boy she can’t remember crushing on. She’s headed towards a future that isn’t at all what her fifteen-year-old self would have envisioned.

And Nora finds herself … forgotten.

Can the two find their way back together through a lost memory?

A romantic ode to the strength of love and the power of choosing each other, against odds and obstacles, again and again.

Great plot

A rollercoaster of a read, a modern story with some relatable experiences (minus the amnesia)… Loved it

A little short and I wanted a little more

I want to preface this with stating I didn’t dislike it. In fact I really liked it, and used any excto listen to it.
But...
It was too short.
When reading blurb for any story you generally get a sense of where you think it will go.
While this did eventually get to where I thought it would, it didn't go the way I thought it would.
We know from the blurb that Stevie has an accident and can't remember her girlfriend. Fine, that made it interesting and I thought we would get a whole book of Nora being a friend, helping her slowly recover the memories. I thought it would be a whole book of them hanging out, going to the movies, evenings out, becoming friends again, and see them fall in love. A love story kind of in reverse. Overall, towards the latter part of the book this kind of happens, but I felt it was sacrificed for quickly putting in all the other storylines that the author wanted. Themes and storylines which truly deserved more space and expansion themselves. Those additional storylines were interesting and needed more fleshing out, and I was invested in them enough that I wanted to see them explored. If the book were longer, we would have had time for everything.
