Summary
On Australia's hottest beach, the most dangerous current is between them.
Training to be a lifeguard is tough work, but Cody Grant loves a challenge. He spends long days in the sun and surf rescuing swimmers from treacherous rip currents while trying not to lust after senior lifeguard Liam Fox - who is deeply, painfully closeted.
Liam was supposed to be a football legend. Now in his mid-30s, it's been over a decade since his dream shattered along with his knee. Fans still recognize him regularly, and he's terrified his sexuality will be discovered and his conservative parents will reject him. He has strict rules to protect his secret and keeps everyone at arm's length.
Out and proud Cody fascinates Liam - and tempts him to break all the rules.
Cody is practically half Liam's size and age, but has the confidence and compassion to take charge and give Liam the release, affection, and acceptance he desperately craves. But how long can a secret affair satisfy their hearts? As if saving lives isn't hard enough, Cody faces his greatest challenge yet convincing Liam to trust him and find the courage to live out loud.
Contains mature themes.

Excellent story 👏👏👏
This is the 9th book I’ve read from this author and it’s another beautiful angsty love story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great narration.

Magnificent
I love Keira's books so much and this one was incredible. The cameo from Ethan and Clay nearly made me squeal in my kitchen because I adored that book and have listened to it numerous times and I guarantee this one will be added to list of books I will continue to listen to over and over again.

Clay and Ethan cameo
loved this book, the best bit was that Clay and Ethan made a cameo appearance on the beach. I love Keira's novels. If you want a relaxed gay romance, get stuck in. a real page Turner

Enjoyable
This is the coming out story of a very closeted guy who faces homophobia in his family. If you don’t like it when people are in the closet, then this book is not for you, but this was really lovely - both with him discovering and being comfortable with himself, and the developing relationship. I liked the older bigger guy being submissive, too, as it’s a twist on the usual dynamic.
Joel Leslie is always a great narrator. Not sure he pulled off a Canadian accent, but I soon forgot about it and sank into the story.

great
This is miles out of my normal wheelhouse and I absolutely loved it. Another fantastic book that shows that Keira Andrews' talent and versatility should not be underestimated. I tend not to read many books with high angst and internal homophobia, but Keira Andrews is magic and somehow she makes me sympathetic, perhaps because you can really see the trauma. Liam and Cody have a lot to work through in this high angst, high heat book, and there's a ton of action in there too. I loved the crew at the lifeguard station, they were a great supporting cast, and I really should read Swept Away again. I read it once, years ago, but I'd love to return to it. Absolutely recommend Flash Rip if you can handle the angst levels. It's a great read or listen, and Joel Leslie did a fab job with the audiobook.

another great read from Keira A
I really like this author, there's always a happy ending but I'm usually kept guessing about how exactly its going to turn out. Nice for a brief cameo from two other characters whose book I loved. I was hoping they'd turn up again.

My heart breaks for Liam 😩
My poor baby Liam 😩 I can’t believe there are people like him in the world who have hid who they really are all their lives and some go on into their 50’s 60’s etc not being true to themselves and loving whoever they want all because of society.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times more, this world is so fucked up and even though some places are changing slowly, we are still worlds away from people being able to just be in love with whoever they want 😢
Anyone like his mum and dad who doesn’t accept him for who he is, does not deserve to have his love and respect as a son
As for the story itself, I wasn’t a fan of the Australian accent but it wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t listen 🤣 I just had to speed up or slow it down a lot in some places to be able to understand what was being said.
The first few spicy scenes, especially the first time they spent together, the one at work and the scene where ropes were first used were so HOT 🥵🔥 I will be re reading this book more times just for those scenes.
I love Cody. His confidence is so attractive and he may be young but he’s so mature for his age and know what he wants in life. He was the perfect person to bring Liam out of his shell

another cracker from Kiera.
this was an amazing story, really delved into the struggle some people have with coming out to a very homophobic family. fighting internalised homophobia is something not many people realise is a problem. also, the cameo from a previous book couple was a great surprise!
joel once again bats it out of the park. I can never praise his performances enough, and you know your going to get the best if his name is linked to it. always an auto buy for me.
I highly recommend this book 15 stars from me!
