Summary
A true modern classic, Fight Club is a darkly comic tale of love, rivalry and the lengths men will go to when they need something to make them feel alive.
Every weekend, in basements and car parks across the country, young men with good white-collar jobs and absent fathers take off their shoes and shirts and fight each other barehanded. Then they go back to those jobs with blackened eyes and loosened teeth and the sense that they can handle anything.
Fight Club is the invention of Tyler Durden, projectionist, waiter, and dark, anarchic genius. And it's only the beginning of his plans for revenge on the world....

good
A good book that the film stays surprisingly faithful to. so if you've seen the film already it's more of the same, if you enjoyed it you'll enjoy this

Intense
Intense and raw portrail of extremism/cultism. A poignant commentary on post-modern masculinity and wester/consumer culture. All wrapped in a non-comforting blanket of nihilism!

Not what I expected.
Only read this as on a list of books to read. Haven’t seen the film as subject didn’t appeal. However, this book was surprisingly good and not what I thought it would be. Needs some concentration as can jump backwards and forwards. Unexpected twist at the end. Interested in seeing the film now.

Sorry can't talk about it
Would you consider the audio edition of Fight Club to be better than the print version?
What can you say the first rule is you can't talk about it.
But it's way different from watching a movie.

As it says on the tin
In fairness I am a fan of the film and had seen the film several times. I was unsure about getting the book as the films seem to usually be so different.
I was very impressed by this book and enjoyed it with the joy I got from first watching the film.

Excellent story
Loved it. Even though I watched the movie before reading the book and well before listening on audible I enjoyed and appreciate the differences. Will listen again for sure!

Incredible book
I must be one of the few readers who went into this book without seeing the film. Sure I knew the basic plot and a quote here and there but I went into this without the influence of the film (aside from picturing Tyler as Brad Pitt).
This is way more than a book about fighting. This is an existentialist look mortality, class, infamy and the desperate desire to escape the mundane.
It's an almost perfect book and the narration is top notch. My only criticisms would be that in places it feels rushed and occasionally (albiet very rarely) it seems to think it is smarter than it is. But this is certainly not enough to dock it a star.
Fantastic book, highly recommended.
