About this listen
The international best seller.
Fat is a vital yet hugely under-rated organ.
Fat has become a dirty word, but we know so little about how it really works. In Fat, expert doctors and obesity researchers Dr Mariëtte Boon and Professor Liesbeth van Rossum present the ground-breaking research which explodes many of the myths and prejudices surrounding body fat and will make us completely rethink our relationship with it.
Making use of the cutting-edge research in this specialist field, this fascinating and entertaining book will explain how fat generates important hormones, communicates with our brains and is, indeed, essential for staying alive. Informative yet accessible, Fat: The Secret Organ is important reading, not only for people who have struggled with their weight, but for everybody who is serious about their health.

Very informative
Really good book about a subject much more complex than many people think. It gets quite technical but having studied biology, that added to the enjoyment for me; others may find it a bit 'dry' in places. But overall, there are loads of different issues covered, and backed up with case studies.

Excellent informative non-quack book
This book does not advocate a diet or a life-style. It is a fascinating informative book where human fat and its causes are explored in a scientific manner. It remains however perfectly within the reach of listeners like myself who have no scientific background. It is very easy to listen to and extremely well read.

More dogma about 'healthy' unsaturated fats
Had to stop listening, because the authors seem to think that unsaturated (or unnatural processed) fatty acids are healthy and saturated fats are not.
I know it is the prevailing Dogma, but had hoped to hear more about what the 'saturated' fatty acids our bodies produce - why would they do that if it is so unhealthy?
