Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Monica Murphy comes an angsty new adult romance about the popular quarterback and the smart girl who brings him to his knees.

Jake Callahan. Prince of the popular crowd.

My mortal enemy.

Gorgeous. All the girls want him.

Quarterback. All the boys want to be his friend. He’s the most popular boy in the senior class.

And he hates me.

Or so I thought.

What I mistook for hatred turns out to be…interest. There’s that thin line, right? It makes me crazy. I can’t stand it. Attraction, chemistry, whatever it is, I also can’t resist it.

And neither can he.

Together, we make no sense. The odds are against us. His friends definitely don’t approve. I’m not a part of their crowd. Not one of the cool kids. I don’t fit in, or so they say.

But that doesn’t stop him from falling for me.

And it won’t stop me from fighting for him.

Fabulous audio

Jake and Hannah's story was a fabulous listen. Sweet, emotionally charged, and realistic are the words that spring to mind after finishing their story. Teddy and Sarah did an amazing job.

"Popular star quarterback" Jake had his work cut out for him when he found himself intrigued by Hannah, as she was the "quiet artsy girl".

Despite their different social circles and their vastly different home lives, they just made sense.
She was the calm in his storm of a life.
The peace in his chaotic day.
A complete contrast to his ex-girlfriend.

Ugh... there is always one character that you wish you could delete. Right?
Yeah, well for me, that's Cami. She's the devil. The absolute worst. I can't stand her!
She doesn't have a single nice bone in her body.
Anyway, I digress.

I was a little disappointed by the lack of a HEA, it's a HFN finish, but no doubt we will see more of these two in the following books.
Still an absolutely fabulous book despite my dislike of the ending.
Highly recommend this series.

Such a sweet story

Currently on a Teddy Hamilton book binge, and this one has joined the many I adore. Super adorable story with awesome characters. Can’t wait to read the others from the series.

Both VAs were awesome, and sounded great together. Do wish the female VA had a little more variation on the other characters, especially male. But still enjoyed it nonetheless! 10/10

Great love story

I really loved this story, I couldn’t stop listening. Jake and Hannah are perfect together, she brings balance to his life. I would love an update on their story, couple kids and marriage to ice the cake.

Loved the narrator’s they did a fabulous job of capturing the characters and helping to keep me in engaged with the story.

I’ve added some more stories from this author to my library, look forward to them.

Teen book, but enjoyable!

I didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but I did! Pleasantly surprised and couldn’t wait for the next chapter. A love story, very sweet.

Monica Murphy with a cute high school romance

This book was so high school but in a good way. In the cute and innocent way. I also loved the slow burn, it fits so well together with the high school setting.

I really liked the progress of Hannah and Jake's relationship and how it all began. The beginning was a bit different from your typical beginning for a romance book set in high school with Jake's friends telling him to find someone to wear his jersey to the game and Hannah turning him down. Only in a good way though.

I liked the narrators, especially the female narrators voice was super pleasant to listen to. I actually did not realize at first that the male narrator was Teddy Hamilton (even though I have listened to books narrated by him before) and I think it is easy to notice that he has come a long way as a narrator since this book. Although, I have to note that sometimes with dialogue it was a bit difficult to distinguish who was speaking because of how similar the narrators' voices were with both genders.

This book was cute and easy to listen to and I will definitely listen to the other books in the series as well but it just took me a super long time. Also, I cannot, in good conscience, give this book more than three stars in GR because it was so clearly a simple YA romance.

Underwhelming

An easy listen but also underwhelming.
The flow wasn’t the smoothest and even though I liked the MCs at first I struggled to feel connected to them, they lacked definition.
Even the ending felt like just the end of a chapter.

Easy listening.

I loved the characters and Jake and Hannahs blossoming romance. Very relatable. Every Year at school has a Cammy.
