Summary

Lincoln
I thought there was only one thing I needed to make me happy. I was so sure becoming a rock star would heal the dark corners inside me. But every time I walk onto the stage, with a roaring crowd screaming my name, all I can think about is the boy I left behind. All I want to do is rewind and make a different choice.

Jace
I thought I hated Lincoln when he ghosted me 10 years ago and destroyed my heart. I thought I hated him when he wrote a chart-topping hit about our idyllic young love. But I’ve never hated him as much as I do right now, standing in front of me like he has every right to be in my world again. He’s not the rock god I thought he was...he’s still that same lost boy I used to love. Can I ever trust him with my heart again?

*Face the Music is the first book in the Replay series. Each book in the series will focus on a different band member getting a second chance at love. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. This book contains descriptions of self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and sexy times.

Emotional

This book squeezed my heart and chest. I felt all the emotions, fear, hope, anxiety, numbness and love. The heartachingly scary love and the easy, warm, relaxed love.

Kenneth makes it go live!

Slow start but gets amazing.

This is the first book I have read and heard from this author, I love Kenneth Obi, I was going to give it’s four stars until half way through, as the beginning is really slow and Kenneth reads slowly, I don’t no if this is what the author wanted or Kenneth style for this book, but found it a bit annoyingly, however once the dialogue starts the pace picks up, and Kenneth is back to his amazing self and is brilliant, hence the five stars instead of four. Kenneth choice of voice for the characters was brilliant, especially liked Jace’s

The story is a second chance story, I felt the story took awhile to get into as there was a lot of repetition in theme. However the story blasts off at about the half way point and is amazing, the illness discussed in the story is brilliantly handled and shines light on something that is misunderstood by society.

Lincoln is a likeable guy and although I was upset with him for leaving Jace I can understand why he did, Although agree with Jace, I loved Jace and glad he didn’t just fall at Lincoln’s feet. I need to read the rest of the series and see what happens to the other band members and the band!!!!

A replay

This is a story about first loves, broken promises and wishing for replay. After 10 years Linc and Jace meet again at the cabin at the lake where they spent their summers with their family and where they found love. But a record contract drove them apart and Jace is still bitter about the broken promises. At the time Linc didn't want to make Jace lose out on becoming a doctor and therefore sneaked away in the early morning without a goodbye. 10 years later he still can't forget the boy he left behind and all the music and richess can't make up for his loss. Like the bands name, he's in a down spiral. Can he make Jace understand the reason he left and that he wants to make up for his mistake and show him this time that he will keep his promises? This book contains selfharm. It's the first of the series about the members of a rockband, who after 10 years living with strangling contracts, leaving everything behind and struggle with their own identity and lost loves. Beautiful narrated by Kenneth Obi.

Favorite of the series

Book one was my favorite. I really connected with both of the guys and felt their struggles, both individually and when they were considering the risks of second chances. I loved how the author didn't fall into the trap of allowing thier getting back together fix all of their personal issues and I thought she handled the subject matter really well.

Kenneth did a great job with these guys and this is one of my favorites he's done!!

3.5 stars - decent easy listen

This was an easy listen with a nice romance. Characters were decent and I enjoyed the story. It wasn’t overly memorable, but what stood it apart from other romance books was the mental health aspect which gave added depth. Would have been good if there was an overall plot line as well as the characters’ relationship to make the book more engaging.

Heartbreakingly beautiful story from Neuhold + Obi

Wow, I don't think I was expecting such a hard hitting character as Lincoln along with everything that he is going through, especially in the first book of a new series. K.M. Neuhold definitely starts Replay off with a bang and, damn, it's worth reading/listening to.
My heart was attached to Lincoln right from the start and Jace is his perfect match with how he brings light to the man's life, though with how he left when they were younger, it's going to take a lot of healing and forgiveness for their friendship and relationship to recover.
This is a beautifully told tale that includes heartbreak, mental illness and self harm which could possibly be a trigger for some but for those able to read, I think it helps to shine a light on people who go through these times and what they experience mentally and physically. Kyleen's writing really brings to light how relationships and interaction can help and how important they are. Lincoln and Jace's is hard fought and tough going at times but worth every moment of your time.
Kenneth Obi does a brilliant job in bringing these characters to life. Providing a voice for both men must have been hard with all that occurs in the book but everything was believable and I just needed to keep listening to find out what happened for both men, individually and together. The emotion was conveyed perfectly in both good times and bad for all characters, not just the MC's.
I'm now diving straight into book 2! This series has me hooked :-)
