Essential poker book

Alton Hardin has written a comprehensive and easy to understand book which teaches the core fundamentals of poker math that every player needs to become a winning player, or at the very least to improve their win rate.

I have both the written version and the audible book. The choice of narrator for the book is excellent. A pleasant voice that is clear and easy to understand.

The material covered in the book is comprehensive and it is probably the only book on poker math you will need for the microstakes up to small stakes. Like all of Alton's books, the concepts are clearly stated in easy to understand language and are structure logically to build upon each other. The math concepts are fully covered as are the reasons as to why they are important and how they will improve your game.

I highly recommend both the audiobook and the written version. As a bonus you will be able to enrol on his internet based poker math course, which is part of his larger microstakes poker school. I also highly recommend joining the poker school. It is excellent value for money.

A great book brought to life in audio form.

I purchased this book originally on Kindle and was really enjoying it whenever I had the time to pick it up, which wasn't often enough. Now the book is on Audible I have managed to finish it in a matter of days and would recommend it to anyone looking to get a better understanding of Poker Math and the game in general, a great book for all levels of knowledge.

Excellent coaching book

I have a number of Alton's poker books and was hoping that one might be converted into an audio book, so I was delighted to see this book available. I was not disappointed. Alton's books and video courses are excellent especially for poker newbies. This audio book is no exception; it is extremely well written and explains poker math concepts clearly and easily.
The narration is excellent too. The voice is clear and engaging.
I hope that Alton converts more of his fine coaching books into audio form.

Good overview of the basic poker math

This book is a good place to start if you are just getting into the game or if you have been playing on for a while and want to get a handle on the theory.
The book is written very clearly, is easy read and gives a good overview of the basic poker math you will need at the tables or online.
Even if maths is not you strong point, this book will be great for you. The concepts are introduced and covered comprehensively in a way that anyone would understand.
I like the balance between theory and
then working through example hands. I would recommend it for beginner to intermediate poker players, as i feel it has definately helped to give me a bit more of an edge at the table.

Great method for anyone looking to advance in the world of poker.

If you're interested in advancing up a level and find it easier to study the old fashioned method that is similar to a class I would recommend this is the way to go, I found that listening to a chapter of what area I was looking to improve my game, this was a great method! I wrote down the equations that you are taught in the audio book and make some scenarios for yourself to figure out when you're grasping the subject, go over it with you're equations you're taught in the book or with the equity calculator that is suggested in the book to double check you're answers. Having this way of learning I find it easier then just reading over pages to get a grasp of the concepts you need to make snap decisions during you're game based on the math, with risk/reward implied odds that you learn in you're journey you will tidy up any maniac calls that you might of been doing beforehand. You should be doing the math if upping you're game and playing seriously and this is the path I have taken myself. The narrator Joshua Alexander makes it easy listening and Altons method of writing is digestible so you don't need to worry if you are thinking that the concept of the Math is going to put you into a corner you're struggle with. I suggest this Audio book to anyone who also just enjoys playing the game as well and is interested to see how a poker player thinks beyond the basic method of position and aggression style. I have also purchased the hard copy of the book that does have everything in black and white for you to draft from as well. I say go for it and enjoy the journey.

Really succinct and easy to follow

You’d think an audio book about poker would be impossible given the need for visuals but Alton somehow pulls it off. So easy to listen to and really informative. Thanks!
