Summary
The complete audiobook series for Elman Hypnotherapy: Beyond the Basics, includes all seven books of this series stating with the basics of the Elman Technique and finishing with advanced techniques and applications as discussed by Dave Elman in his courses. Included is material on waking hypnosis and hypnosis related to the sleep state. As the subtitle states, this series goes far beyond the basic covered in most courses on his methods. I also discuss the basic concepts behind Elman's methods so that a clinical practitioner can easily customize sessions to best fit a particular subject.
Long forgotten and often overshadowed by interest in Milton Erickson’s contribution to hypnotherapy, the work and ideas of his chief rival Dave Elman should not be overlooked. Elman was a former stage hypnotist, radio personality, and worked with the Office of Strategic Services (the predecessor of the CIA) during World War II. He was approached by members of the medical and dental profession, who had an interest in hypnosis but were dissatisfied with what they had learned from Erickson. While many in the hypnotherapy arena regularly shun any association with stage hypnotists, looking at why hypnosis-as-entertainment works and how it may be applied to clinical and performance-related applications is a worthy study.
Although Elman was a close associate of Sigmund Freud’s son and very much influenced by Freud’s psychoanalytic theories, his core concepts have even more relevance when studied and practiced in light of many more recent neurological discoveries. His three-minute technique is a starting point in understanding the elegance of his thoughts and must be mastered by anyone who claims to practice hypnotherapy. This series takes the listener from the three-minute technique, to a one-minute technique and several techniques that will get the same results instantly with little ritual involved.

Really good detailed examples
Although the narration is a bit stilted this is a very valuable manual for practical strategies for clients using the variants of the Elman technique.

Just what I was looking for!
I was wanting to fully understand the Elman Technique, so that I could practice it and be competent and confident in using it.
This book gave me everything that I needed and more.
At first, I thought the narrator's voice was a little boring and would send me to sleep, and then it dawned on me that his voice was perfect for his role as a Hypnotist and that's exactly why he sounded like that.
I thoroughly recommend these seven books.

Informative but robotic
Very useful for hypnosis techniques but I found the author robotic. I loved how simple this style of hypnosis is and will definitely be implementing them in my practice.

Dull narration
The subject matter is good but the narration is just so dull. There are better options out there
