Summary

I was just a boy when the monsters rose on earth, forcing humans to flee to the coastlines and live in cramped, dirty, military-controlled cities. I enlisted as soon as I could to escape.

Now, I’ve been in the military for twelve years and have the scars—and missing body parts—to prove it. As a hardened soldier who’s spent his fair share of time out in the Wastes—the dangerous place where monsters roam free—I didn’t think anything could surprise me anymore.

But then circumstance forced me together with a big, annoying purple monster who’s arrogant and bossy and pushes all my buttons in the worst—and best—ways. I need his help, and I hate needing anyone’s help. But the more time I spend with him, the more I realise that maybe there’s more from him that I need... and that he might need things from me too.

But I’m still a soldier. I still have responsibilities. It doesn’t matter how I feel about Edin, because we can’t be together. It’s too dangerous. That doesn’t stop me wanting him, though.

Edin is book two of the Monstrous series, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that focuses on monsters and human men falling in love. The story contains explicit content, including graphic depictions of torture and violence, and mentions PTSD.

Perfect

Edin is one of the most lovable and hilarious himbos I’ve ever read about. Edin is now one of my comfort reads because I love this story so much. It’s both absolutely hilarious and so endearing .

Amazing series

I’m loving this series. I‘ve seen it recommended repeatedly and had on my TBR - but when the audio released and Michael Leslie was the narrator, it was a no brainer to listen to the books instead. And I’m so glad I did- they are just mesmerizing and so well written. Definitely 5 stars!

Superb

I loved this book. The characters were adorable and the drama was on the edge of my seat good. Loved the spice. Loved the narration. And, I loved there was so much of Wyn & Danny included. Book 3, here I come

A great second book!

I could tell you how much I enjoyed this book; how much I loved Edin and Hunter, and their romance; how the plot was interesting; all the giddy feelings I had while reading; how I absolutely did nothing else except read it in one sitting. I could tell you all this and more.
But the only thing I really want to do is ask this question: When the heck is the next audiobook releases????

Loved it! Edin’s voice is perfection!

Brilliant performance by Michael Lesley. I particularly loved how Michael performed Edin. Matched his voice in my head from having read this story previously in that perfect way. Highly recommend and can’t wait for the next one.

Perfection!

I love this series so much and revisiting it on audio is bringing it to a whole new level! Edin & Hunter have always been my OG favorite pairing from this series and I still stand by that. The narration for both characters is perfect, and I can’t wait for a whole book of Charlie soon. For anyone who hasn’t read the series yet and is diving in right with the audios, this one really starts to lay the groundwork for the epic found-family and world building Lily does throughout the series. It’s got so much happening, but the pacing remains perfectly balanced between plot and romance.

Edin

We first met Edin in Lily Mayne’s first book in the series Monstrous, The Soul Eater, and I loved him and couldn’t wait to get to know him more.
I was gripped by the story from the beginning, the lonely loveable huge purple monster, Edin and the battle scarred, prickly military man Hunter. They team up to save Hunter’s teammate Charlie, who has been kidnapped. They have help along the way from Wyn and Danny, which is nice to see the characters from the first book appearing and their relationship well established.
This is perhaps not as dark as The Soul Eater but that is not a criticism, the characters are different, Edin is more lighthearted and loveable but I do think I would have liked to know more of Edin’s family background, especially concerning the Rycke. However the next book in the series is called The Rycke and as previous characters do seem to appear in following books maybe we will find out more.
