Summary

Through a Space-Time Visualiser the Doctor and his companions are horrified to see an execution squad of Daleks about to leave Skaro on a mission to find the TARDIS and exterminate the time travelers. Eluding the Daleks on the barren planet Aridius the Doctor and his friends escape in the TARDIS. But this is only the beginning of an epic journey. As they travel through space and time, they try to shake off their pursuers by making a series of random landings - but the Daleks don't give up easily. This is a chase to the death... Maureen O'Brien, who played Vicki in the original Doctor Who TV serial, reads John Peel's complete and unabridged novelisation, first published by Target Books in 1989.

We welcome the chase.

Excellent clear narration by Maureen O'Brien bringing to life John Peels carefully thought out script which filled in blanks missing in the televised serial and introducing elements ( eg taranium, regeneration etc) from, as at that stage, future Doctor Who canon. Only reason that I gave 4 stars overall is simply that the production team elected not to use traditional Mechonoid voices (which would have been provided by Nick Briggs) during the recording. Would have enhanced the overall enjoyment if they had.

When Stephen became the Dr Who companion.

When Stephen became the doctor's companion I never knew what the name of that episodes. I bought 1 and 2 of the last episode on Audio books then I saw this one looked interested and you know what it was brilliant. I was too young When this 1st broadcastto on TV to watch it. As I got older I so the odd episode or just a bit of an episode of doctor who this was one of them and it always membered Stevens character because he was on blue Peter but never saw the series there was another 1 that always remember when the doctor and companions were running away from the cybermen on the moon and went down the hatch unfortunately my dad turned over the TV so I never knew what that was called either.
The best thing I have ever done was to get the app for audio books specially after listening to these episodes it's like an actually seen it all every word that was spoken and the actions I could see clearly in my mind loved it Now I will train find audiobook of the other one I think it's called invasion of the moon by the sevaman a could be wrong This is worth 5 stars And be on time and space.

A classic revived in a new form

So I’m fully aware that yes there are differences between this and the original broadcast version however where the stars clean up elements of the original broadcast in some areas it makes changes that either are welcome and makes sense or become questionable to other Dalek stories that exist such as the inclusion that the Daleks have teranium powering their time machines when it is pointed out in master plan that they have no context on how to mine teranium but as far as I’m aware the story does tie-up that detail but beyond that as a more nitpick this is a really good way to enjoy the Chase And is well worth a listen if you consider downloading this
