Wonderful

Close your eyes, set Highlanders to play, and instantly travel back in time to the 60s, with the original b&w fuzzy opening credits, and the original music introducing Jamie’s first appearance.
The story is great fun; adventure, humour, cliffhangers, the lot.
Great narration linking the scenes, great performances, if you love the original DW stories, don’t pass this one up.

The next best thing to watching this on DVD - which you can't as it does not exist on video anymore

historical fun & frolics

The description may suggest a very stern Doctor Who story but 'The Highlanders' is actually delightful entertainment of the very best quality. This is a cheeky, enjoyable romp through history with Patrick Troughton getting the chance to flex his comic muscles by pretending to be a dotty old German medic.

It's sad that the original episodes have been lost but this works beautifully as an audiobook. Frazer Hines delivers descriptions of the action with charm and brevity. It also worth noting that this storyline sees the debut of his character Jamie.

Essential listening for all Doctor Who fans.

Couldn't be better...

My favourite ever Doctor Who story. I love historical elements which mix brilliantly with the comical elements we know of Patrick Troughton.
