About this listen
Taking the listener on a journey from discovering a marketable passion to generating an income from it, this book is a practical guide to tackling one of the key questions of our era: how to make a living doing the thing you love.
Aimed at all those who want their work to be fun and fulfilling, and who feel they might have a unique gift or message to share with the world, this is an amazingly effective guide to making money doing what you love. It is the only book to take listeners through the whole process of creating an income from a passion, identifying which interest they could monetize, choosing a bespoke path, and learning how to become an expert in their chosen field.
Part 1 explains how to discover a marketable passion with the help of the Dream Job Chart, which guides you in assessing your business ideas, skills, and the causes you are passionate about. Once you have clarity on your passion, Part 2 describes the three possible paths to creating an income from it, offering inspiring examples of both famous and everyday people who have successfully followed each path. The Adventurer's Path is for those of a braver disposition and with few family commitments. The Strategist's Path is for those with patience, flexibility, and a lower tolerance for risk. The Grinder's Path is for those who feel a need to continue with their present work while also pursuing their dream. Finally, Part 3 explores the four stages to becoming an expert in your chosen field, so that people will pay you for your skill or product.
Along the way you will learn:
- why bad luck can't stop you
- the right time to quit your job
- how to use freelancing or consultancy to help you reach your goal
- how to make progress with your passion even if you are working full-time
- what to do if you're over 50 and want to create an income from your passion
- And much, much more!

Just what I needed at a turning point in my career!
This book helped to give me the information and advice I needed right at a turning point of my career.
The advice on how to determine which job/service/product to pursue using the dream job chart is so simple but effective. It goes the extra step in the categorisation of each prospective job, which I have never come across before.
The 3 types of paths for following my passion (adventurers, strategists & grinders) were very helpful and reassuring to me in understanding the right path for me.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone seeking to advice on how to find their dream job and whether to pursue working on their passion.

Inspirational book with extras
This is a book worth reading/listening for those working on their career, which is best read so you can visually see the charts and tools he refers to. I believe it can be applicable to self-employed and employed people who love their job, but want a side gig.
As someone who is currently in the middle of a career change this book really helps pinpoint things I need to do to get to my goals whilst giving inspiration and direction. He presents the various routes people take to move from one career to another. I’m sure it can also benefit someone starting a career from finishing school, college or university.
I don’t read enough books, however, I thought it was easy to read (though as a slow reader who spends more time moving it was easier to have the book as an audio whilst I have the physical book to refer to), it seemed well structured, boosting inspiration to others and motivating readers/listening to do their best. Not only that, Joe takes time to interact with readers who gets in touch with him.
The “extras” mentioned is the fact that he’s running meetup group called ‘Success Club’ every month, which brings his readers together for a very reasonable price (~£4 per person) to discuss their business direction and motivate each other as a group to obtain goals. So when going alone, you get additional ideas from many others as well as the constructive criticism we all need!
Currently (21st April 2020) due to the isolation it is done online, therefore available to people worldwide, as long as it is a convenient time... Which he may potentially do along with the physical meet-ups when we come out from our caves.

"You deserve and are capable of so much more"
A great guide to getting clear on your thoughts and start perusing your passions. I had no idea how to get started with my interest, let alone dare dream of monetizing a passion. Joe provides very many relatable scenarios and practical tools for narrowing down passions and becoming an expert, in a clear and down to earth manner of speaking. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who feels there must be more to life and is looking for a way to change their career.
