LESSONS FROM A BOSS-LEVEL DISRUPTOR AND GAMING LEGEND
Reggie Fils-Aimé, retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America Inc., shares leadership lessons and inspiring stories from his unlikely rise to the top.
Although he’s best known as Nintendo's iconic President of the Americas—immortalized for opening Nintendo’s 2004 E3 presentation with, “My name is Reggie, I'm about kicking ass, I'm about taking names, and we're about making games”—Reggie Fils-Aimé’s story is the ultimate game plan for anyone looking to beat the odds and achieve success.
Learn from Reggie how to leverage disruptive thinking to pinpoint the life choices that will make you truly happy, conquer negative perceptions from those who underestimate or outright dismiss you, and master the grit, perseverance, and resilience it takes to dominate in the business world and to reach your professional dreams.
As close to sitting one-on-one with the gaming legend as it gets, you will learn:
- About the challenges Reggie faced throughout his life and career—from his humble childhood as the son of Haitian immigrants, to becoming one of the most powerful names in the history of the gaming industry.
- What it takes to reach the top of your own industry, including being brave enough to stand up for your ideas, while also being open to alternative paths to success.
- How to create vibrant and believable visions for your career, your team, and your company.
- How to maintain relentless curiosity and know when to ask questions to shatter the status quo.

If you like Nintendo
If you like Nintendo and would like to hear about his business career before working at Nintendo then look no further. He does say “So what” lots of times though! It’s an interesting story I enjoyed it.

Very entertaining, and thoughtful
There were some great lessons to be learned in this book and it was presented in a fascinating manner. I also appreciated that Reggie himself performed the reading for this audiobook, it enhanced the overall experience and was quite immersive because of that. It also gave me inspiration to do and learn some things in life that I didn't consider before. Highly recommended!

Thank you for realizing this book!
This book was both a delightful listen, as well as being very pragmatic.
Professionally, I myself have pivoted from once being a Graphic Designer, to now doing UI and UX in gaming, and my values are well aligned with this book. While I have no intention to lead, I do work closely with my leads, and all good inspiration to improve our processes are always welcome. In addition to my own takeaways, I'll be heartily recommending this book to others.
Personally, as an all time Nintendo fan who has witnessed several eras, I remember Reggie's first entrance to the scene fondly. Like it was yesterday. I can't believe it's already been this many years. This book gave some interesting insights into the workings of legends. And the bonus content was a wonderful surprise: One of my all time heroes as well.
Please continue to inspire gamers and developers alike.

An inspiring read or listen in this case
Reggie is a wordsmith who paints the tail of a life most can only dream of with hard work, persistence, drive and determination he carved a rather interesting career that lead to several of nintendos biggest wins, his tale is also a tail of trust, friendship and ability to know when the time is right to bow out and leave a place better than he found it. As an avid biography reader this is such an enjoyable story full of heat and trust.

excellence in Disrupting the Game
I've never listened or read a book like before a business memoir, and I must say it's fantastic Reggie gives fantastic narration and the bonus interview after the book is finished with Geoff Keighley, chef's kiss. I highly recommend this book to anyone who even the slightest interest in the game's industry.

A must for all gamers, and leaders, and all else
I will just put buzzwords next to each other. An extraordinary adventure from somebody, who managed to overcome obstacles and use his disruptive mind to give much joy to many, who enjoyed products from the companies he worked for.
If your are a games and want to look a little behind the curtains, well, this is for you.

I love myself
This book is not for me, and this is my first negative review out of hundreds of books. Cringe-worthy the amount of times he can say 'I'. I, I, I ,The boss...This may be a cultural/personal issue, but I prefer to read about slightly more humble individuals. I commend his journey though, kudos for that.

Egotistical
Reggie is a lovely man and a great businessman, but his storytelling is a bit on the nose with his successes - the book felt rushed which I think contributed to this. Also the "The so what" summaries were gimmicky and irritating, made it feel like a cheap business how-to book.
