About this listen

Diamond wasn’t always a star. Born to penniless parents who longed for a son, she was a dainty, delicate daughter – and a bitter disappointment. Discovering she has an extraordinary natural gift for acrobatics, Diamond tries to use her talent to earn a few pennies. A mysterious stranger spots her performing on the street, and makes a deal with her father. Diamond is sold and is taken to become an acrobat at Tanglefield’s Travelling Circus. Her master is wicked and greedy. But there are true friends to be found at the circus, including the glorious Emerald Star, Tanglefield’s brand-new ringmaster, and Diamond’s heroine. The crowds adore her but when life at the circus becomes too dangerous to bear any longer, what will the future hold for Diamond? And will her beloved Emerald be a part of it?

Amazing story! Bad narration!

A love this book it gives some background to Hetty’s little friend. I would definitely recommend if you have read the rest of the Hetty Feather series. I did not like the narrator, making Diamond sound like a baby and doing a truly awful performance of Bebo. Though the narration is bad it is still worth reading this wonderful book.

amazing book for any ages.

It's even better if you know Hetty's story. And I loved the voicing of the book it made me imagine the thing that was happening at that time.

My 10 year old daughter loves it I am not sure

My daughter enjoys it for some reason I didn’t. I didn’t really have much to venture in drama. Recommend that 10 and above should do this book.

Great story, terrible narration

I've read the paperback version of this book many times and the story is great. However, the voice reading it was terrible. The voices for the different characters were barely different from one another and nowhere in the book does it state that the character 'Beppo' was foreign, however his lines were read in a very badly done Eastern European accent that was barely understandable.

Overall, the story is excellent but I won't be purchasing any more books read by this narrator. Its nothing personal to the narrator, but it was just so difficult to listen to and ruined the story for me.

Amazing author!👏

I love Jacqueline Wilson's books! I very much encourage other people to read/listen to them!Jacqueline Wilson has been my favourite author ever since I read/listened to the whole Hetty Feather series. I could recite most of her books! I have listened/read them over and over again. I really encourage you to do the same! Trust me you won't regret it!
