Summary

She’s on an adventure with more danger than she bargained for.

Ainsley Lilstrum set out to find her birth parents, knowing it would bring her the adventure she’s always craved. What she didn’t account for was the cost of that journey.

She’s been blasted with a powerful magic that’s leading her to the most unexpected and unwelcoming places. Her magical quest to unite the banished casters from all corners of their country is the only thing that might save them all in the end.

Sebastian “Bash” James’ fearsome influence runs deep in the world, and the enemies surrounding her close in on her and her new pirate protector, Killian Flynn. And more harm coming to those she loves is something she hadn’t considered.

With an unpredictable magic thrumming inside of her and no one to train her properly, Ainsley is in for one wild ride in the skies.

Will she succeed in her journey without anyone else getting hurt? Or has Ainsley taken on more than she’ll be able to handle if those she loves most are threatened by her mere existence?

successful sequel

I was looking forward to the sequel of the story and was curious how the adventure of Ainsley Lilstrum continues.
As special and unique as Ainsley is, she has trouble dealing with her magic.
There is a good amount of tension maintained throughout the story.
I would have liked more descriptions of the fantastic world. Despite the suspenseful storytelling, I had little concern for the main characters, yet the adventure was able to carry me along. The romance is not in the foreground and, in a contrast to many other stories, is not enriched with unnecessary drama. Without this distraction, I was able to engage in the dynamic story even more easily.
The audiobook is narrated by Tawny Platis and Aaron Shedlock. It is a pleasure every time to be pulled into a story by Aaron Shedlock and his interpretation of each character was perfect. Tawny Platis was previously unknown to me and at first I had to get used to her voice a bit, she sounded a little older than I had imagined for Ainsley. As the story progressed I found her voice more and more fitting, especially the change between Ainsley's thoughts and direct speech was very skillful.
The third part is already published, I couldn't find a date for the audiobook yet.
