Audible presents the start of a thrilling new enemies to lovers, sapphic romantasy trilogy, for fans of Sarah J Maas, Leigh Bardugo and Rebecca Yarros, performed by Jessie Mei Li (SHADOW AND BONE) and Freya Mavor (INDUSTRY)

In the kingdom of Eynhallow, Princess Ythsie is preparing to choose a husband, in order to secure the kingdom’s future. Everything changes when Stroma, a skilled fighter from a remote village, becomes her new bodyguard. As mysterious deaths rock the palace, Ythsie and Stroma uncover a web of ancient magic and deadly court intrigue. The princess discovers she has a rare and dangerous gift - the ability to communicate with the Deathless, Eynhallow's cursed undead army.

Amidst the chaos, rivalry blossoms into romance between the princess and her loyal squire. With enemies closing in and the fate of the kingdom at stake, Ythsie and Stroma must navigate treacherous alliances, their growing feelings for each other, and their own destinies. How far will they go to protect their love and save their homeland?

Really really really really good

Ive got 2 hours left to listen of this story but I can honestly say right now that its the best story Ive listened to for some months. I really cant wait until the next book comes out. This is a rare find and one of the few I'll no doubt go back to listen to again in the future.

Brilliant story and delivery!

This is one of the best sword and sorcery tales I have read for some time. The intruige is carried throughout and keeps you completely immersed, while a slow romantic build up between two of the characters provides an equally enticing and seductive story-line. Can't wait for Pt2!

long pauses between chapters.

enjoyed the story and the performances. appears to be a set up for a "prince and the pauper" type scenario.
Some chapters had really long pauses between them. long enough that I would have time to unlock my phone and check the timer settings, thinking I'd accidentally pressed "stop at the end of the chapter."

Darkly beautiful, fast-paced, and full of intrigue

Deathbound drew me in with the stunning worldbuilding and strong characters and kept me hooked with the political intrigue, slow-burn romance, and the mysterious forces looming in Eynhallow. A must read for those who like their fantasy a little dark...and deadly!

found by mistake, hooked from beginning

okay the English accents saying random Scots words at beginning bugged me, but OMFG isn't it great to hear a book in British English performed in British English. I must admit took me a while to realise there were 2 voice artists.
I must admit I wasn't looking for much, but it had me hooked, totally emersed in the story, listened right through and was actually upset the book ended so abruptly with no guide as to when the next is out. (Paper version of this on order)
unlike many of the books currently on offer of this genre you don't need to know any previous law about any supernatural creatures, it stands alone in its own world. I honestly cannot rave enough about it.

A sweet sapphic story

I loved the performance of this and how the character’s story unfolded. The acting was great and I enjoyed the way it switched between the character’s perspectives. This was really well paced and the story kept me gripped the whole way. I’m really looking forward to the next books.

The only thing I would say is the gaps between the character’s perspectives are a bit too long and you question whether you’ve accidentally paused the book.

Captivating

This book stuck an excellent balance of fantasy that is easy to follow, and romance and doesn’t overtake the storyline. The main characters have substance and the world building was understandable and weaved into the plot.

An excellent read, and I can’t wait for the next book.
