Summary
Nothing else mattered. He'd been cut loose by his bosses and his twisted vision of what had happened saw only one ending: revenge. And that revenge was centred solely on Rocco.
France, 1963: A farmer reports a truck ramming into a car near Picardie, followed by gunfire. A group of Englishmen are brought in after a bar fight. A tramp's body is discovered in a burnt out truck. All this occurring after multiple attempts on the President's life. Inspector Lucas Rocco knows there's a connection somewhere, and is recruited by Colonel Saint-Cloud to assist with the President's Security.

Good, but ...
Not sure why there is a “but”, however... it could be because Rocco is a little super hero and seems, like a cat to have the ability to survive anything? He is, of course, a nice, caring person, heart of gold and an incorruptible cop with good friends in and out of the force so has the means to save his corner of France from whatever the villains throw at him.
A good yarn and well narrated by Roger May, but having only heard the story by this narrator I would suggest or guess that”St Cloud”,if that is the man’s name is pronounced with a silent “d”. My only niggle.
I have listened to this series and found them all enjoyable and entertaining.
