Summary
Sometimes your mouth makes deals that your heart can’t honour.
Jude is a highly successful model, but a very reluctant one. His life is full of casual hook-ups with pretty men in glamorous locations, but it’s still empty. However, circumstances decreed a long time ago that this was his path, so he’s resolutely stayed on it and accepted his fate with good grace. He made a deal with himself and his hook-ups. Get in, get out, and no ties with anyone.
However, an accident at home one night leads to him making a new deal and accepting the offer of help from an unlikely source. It leads to an unexpected summer of falling in love with a larger-than-life man and his child. But by the end of the summer his reasons for not staying are still valid. Will he turn away? Can he?
Asa is a talented actor who has spent time away from the scene to look after his son. But now he’s back, and the last thing he needs are complications from the gorgeous man who is staying with him. Scarred from too many betrayals, he has no intention of forming a lasting tie with anyone. However, he can’t resist the beautiful man with secrets, and to his horror he develops feelings.
But a deal’s a deal and they said it was just for the summer. What can Asa do with a man who has forever in his eyes and goodbye on his lips?
From the Amazon best-selling author of Rule Breaker comes another scorchingly hot romantic comedy.
This is the second book in the Mixed Messages series but it can be read as a stand-alone.

Fab 2nd book in Series
Usually the second book isn’t as good as the first, however Lily Morton has again turned out afantastic book. I loved the development of the characters and their relationship(especially love ditzy Jude, hilarious). I also love seeing characters from the first book and how their life’s are moving forward. All in all a really lovely listen. And speaking of Listen, I literally can listen to Joel Leslie every day, his narration is ALWAYS on point and gives every character depth.
So love the book and loved the narration. Thank you

Perfect story and narration!
Lily Morton writes the best books! The characters are lively, fun, so relatable that one would love to know them. This is no exception :)
Jude needs a place to stay temporarily when his flat is flooded. His current squeeze, Dean, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation - (that was a hilarious scene) - offers his step-brothers place. Jude arrives to said place and meets a little boy, Billy (he will steal your heart), a pessimistic driver, a motherly housekeeper and the home owner - Asa.
Asa and Jude were well matched - Asa assumed that all models were airheads and Jude set out deliberately to keep that assumption going, with hilarious results! There is a lot of fun with the MCs, Billy and the secondary characters; twe get to see Dylan and Gabe (Rule Breaker). The romance is lovely, with a little bite when Asa and Jude separate for a bit - overall, one of my favourite stories :)
I wish there was a 'This Is Your Life" for Joel Leslie. This version would have all the characters he's brought to life and all the listeners who have been touched by or have enjoyed his performances. He is truly a one of a kind narrator, immersing himself in the characters, right down to the right accent, emotions, subtle inflections and mannerisms (you can almost see Billy poking a tongue in his cheek when he says something sagely :)
The audio performance is nuanced, one can tell who is speaking and what they are feeling. Joel Leslie switches seamlessly between Asa's Yorkshire accent, Jude's Devon to Billy's mixed London (child's) accent and Peggy's East London one; sometimes all within the space of 3 minutes! The book is excellent on it's own, but once you listen to the audio performance, you'll realise that the book is pretty much complete with it :) I would give this audiobook every star possible!

Hilarious
A sequel that's better than book one.
Jude gets his own forever after here, and plays the role of stupid bimbo model with hilarious results. Medium angst level, very steamy sex scenes, and fantastic narration.

My new favourite author
I've really discovered Lily Morton this year and I have to say I love their stuff. I adored Rule Breaker but I think I love Deal Maker even more. Jude is so funny and clever and I just adored him and and Asa together. In fact I loved the entire household, apart from that nanny, and especially little Billy.
This can be read as a standalone but I can't think of any reason not to listen to Rule Breaker too.
Both are narrated by Joel Leslie who does an excellent job.

Good book
I probably enjoyed the first in the series a little more than this one, but I did love that one. This is still a great book, though, and I look forward to more from this author. Great narration from Joel Leslie, as always.

So Beautiful 😍
I loved this story - definitely the best by far!
The little boy Billy is absolutely adorable and can’t help but tear at the heartstrings 🥰
Lily Morton books, narrated by Joel Leslie have me in stitches of laughter one minute, and blubbering like a child the next.
This is the most heartfelt story I’ve heard so far from this collection but my favourite - just a beautiful story 😊
